Decided to share this review to address some of the questions I had when ordering a cake here on August1, 2024. Cake cost? As a person consumed with the cost of EVERYTHING, and if there is inherent value, I will say this: It took about 25 minutes of discussing exactly what I wanted included in this cake with Madelyn (who took my order) to get to the cost of the cake. Very nerve-wracking, if price is a consideration for EVERYTHING....! Ultimately, the price for my quarter-sized sheet cake was about $130. This seemed like a lot until I saw the finished cake. Smooth buttercream frosting on top of a 3 layer, chocolate, vanilla, chocolate cake with a layer of chocolate mousse. Taste? This cake was definitely one of the best, if not best, cakes I have ever had. The cake was surprisingly tall and dense enough to hold its exact shape when cut, so each slice was perfectly formed..... but not dense enough to be hard. Perfect consistency. The buttercream was almost like fondant (did I spell it correctly?). It was smooth like a sheet instead of what I typically know buttercream to be. The mousse was also delicious. (I decided not to upgrade the filling to the raspberry mousse, which would have been about $40 more.....I can only imagine what that filling would have tasted like?!) Design? Even though I ordered this cake 3 days before my event, the condensed time frame was not evident in the design. Nothing elaborate, but the cakes's finishing was beautiful. Perfect lettering . Perfect, simple corner flowering detail. Unfortunately because I ordered the cake at the last minute, there was no opportunity to make any customized design, no matter how simple. Overall, I was very pleased with the cake, as were the guests at my function. I appreciated their willingness to accommodate a last-minute order. If you are looking for an exceptional cake, you will probably be very satisfied ordering...
Read moreI don’t think I’ve had a single thing from DeEttas I haven’t loved. One of my favorites is the ginormous cinnamon roll - it’s so flakey, and the glaze is just perfect without being TOO sweet and heavy. The cinnamon rolls literally weigh a pound - I checked!
We recently ordered a donut cake from them for my husband’s birthday, and I was SO impressed. I’m honestly not the biggest fan of donuts, but my husband loves them, so it was what he wanted. I really didn’t know what to expect as we’d only heard about the donut cake, never seen it. I wasn’t sure if it would be stacked donuts, a regular cake shaped like a donut, or what. But it was a full-on giant fried yeasty donut. I have no idea how they fried something that big AND got it to cook well enough to be light and airy, but they did it! And the glaze on it was just perfect! Even though I don’t love donuts, I kept slicing off pieces for myself, and have not been able to stop thinking about it since we finished it!
My only complaint is that they have a form on their website you can fill out with details of what kind of event treat you’re looking to order, but they just respond with an email that says to call them. I hate phones, so I loved that there was an online option, but it turns out there’s really not. I did this last year and forgot and then did it again this year. At the very least, a call from them might have been nice instead of the email response, especially since I often forget to call during business hours and only remember once a place is closed, thus another reason I love online ordering options.
If you go on a Saturday morning, be prepared for a line, but it moves fairly quickly, and it’s worth the wait. The staff is always very friendly, patient, and helpful. There’s no seating at the shop, so be prepared to get your box of...
Read moreWe are getting married in August and originally were supposed to get our cake from DeEtta's. They were the vendor suggested by the hotel we selected for our reception. I would have given ZERO stars but I couldn't!
Prior to our tasting we selected three flavors that we would like to try. We tried the white cake, yellow cake and chocolate cake(we did not ask for this. We asked for red velvet as the third flavor but were told they did not have it available). After tasting each cake the only thing worthy of purchasing was the buttercream frosting.
Yellow cake was EXTREMELY dry and when we brought it up they blamed it on the fact that they use "natural ingriedients." After the initial tasting we were iffy but decided to give them another try this time trying the red velvet and lemon cake...Neither cake was impressive. Furthermore I went to pick up the sample by myself the owner/baker walks from the back and did not say hello, how are you or anything like that. He walked to the register put his head down and walked to the back and another employee just handed me the bag without providing a description of the contents or anything. Then when I asked she brought the baker/owner back out and he had this look on his face as if he didn't want to come back out. He explained the contents and again walks away.
I left with a sour taste in my mouth. Furthermore they don't do very elaborate cakes and stated that they can't tier a red velvet cake. We have a new bakery that we are going with and one of the very first questions asked was if it was possible to tier a red velvet cake and the answer was yes. To sum it all up DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. This is a BASIC BAKERY with BAD SERVICE. The cakes and baked goods aren't anything that you and I couldn't throw together in the...
