We visited Fiamme on Friday 9/17/21 Our reservation was for 8:30pm, we had made a reservation via the phone a few days prior. I specifically asked to be seated outside in a Cabana for 4 people to celebrate my birthday.
This isn't our first time visiting Fiamme, we have had dinner in the past, in the Igloos and outside. We live down the street on Franklin and pass Fiamme daily, always appreciating the beauty of the restaurant & how cautious Fiamme has been throughout this pandemic.
This past experience was extremely opposite to what we were used to...
Arrived at 8:20 Our reservation was at 8:30 Hostess told us, there was ONLY indoor dining available & that there wasnt any notes of us wanting a Cabana outside.
After 15 minutes of complaining and soaking with 3 different hostess we finally get a Cabana outside (closest to Washington) so you can get a sense of what section we sat at...
Our server was an older slender woman, named Robin? I have never experienced such an inconsiderate & rude person as she. She didn't welcome us to Fiamme, introduce herself as our waitress, ask for drinks... it was more of a "how many" and walked away.
Once she decided to come back, We asked to be served our dessert first (Lava Cake & Brownie) and she said NO!! She said dessert comes at the end of the meal, not at the beginning....I had than to explain to her that it was my birthday and I wanted my cake first, excitedly! She just "walked away" I wasn't even done giving my order....
5.When she returned, I asked her if "I made her angry in someway!?! Because I wanted my cake first. She then explained to us in DETAIL...how the pasta chef quit, that they called her in on her day off and that she was supposed to be at Riot Fest with her son, that everyone working here was so young and can't handle working here and the kicker! That it's BEST not too make the staff upset in anyway because Fiamme can't afford to loose anymore staff!?!
Why did I need to know all this??? Why was I shamed for asking for dessert first?? I could have booked a reservation at any other place but we choose to support Fiamme. We could not enjoy my special birthday dinner whatsoever with my husband and son because of every interaction with this waitress.
We understand that every establishment is experiencing long wait times, short staffed, food shortages etc etc...We did not have an issue with that whatsoever. We waited patiently for our food just like everyone else.
As much as we love coming to Fiamme and supporting Downtown Naperville businesses, our experience with Fiamme was extremely disappointing.
With Best Regards,
Alexandra...
Read moreI give no stars if I can, we went to try for the first time we liked the atmosphere so we decided to give it a try .. we were seated outside on the wooden benches after a while we got a server, he took our orders came back with our drinks and Appetizer plates and one plate was dirty then we ordered the main food pasta languin but we switched shrimps with chicken and added mushrooms which we were charged extra for both items.. second order was roasted veggies pizza, when we got our food pasta was COLD and chicken was tiny cubes no flavor or taste and maybe three pieces of mushrooms a total joke!
Then veggies pizza just from its name and the picture it should be loaded with veggies .. um NO.. we were lucky to have two kinds of veggies on each slice we got and it was all in the center nothing closer to the crust, it would've been better if we ordered a cheese pizza maybe!! Plus no one came to check on us or offer any crushed peppers or salt and pepper olive oil ,bread or anything!!
We were very hungry so we didn't say anything and we didnt want to wait any longer to eat.
we called the server for coffee and desert .. we were told it will take a long time for cappuccino then he came back saying no cappuccino so we got regular coffee and Tiramisu and Lava cake .
Two people came with our coffee spilling from the cups because they didn't use a tray and assumed we like French vanilla creamer.. We DONT .. coffee wasn't hot he came with iced cold creamer that will make my coffee turn into iced coffee and not to mention each cup was a different size and was stained brown too on the inside .. desert wasn't great Teramissu looked like they took the left overs and shoved it in a cup and added whipped cream on top because there wasn't any cake it was only like a pudding basically.. after we paid a very expensive price for food and portions that didn't really deserve this price .. we thought we say something to the manager so she pay attention to the service and food .. all she said was thanks for letting me know NO I am SORRY you weren't happy no nothing she just brushed us off.
No second chance for this type of service and food it's over priced and it's not worth it even the cold coffee in the stained cups nothing special just a plain filtered coffee it was more expensive than a large coffee cup at any specialty coffee shop!
A total...
Read moreEdit: My friend wanted to go here for dinner on Saturday evening (almost 1 year after this review) We made reservations for an outdoor/patio table but when we arrived the patio wait was over an hour. We were then sat inside right in front of the door next to the host stand. I asked if there were any other tables available and they stated there weren’t. It was ungodly hot in the restaurant and the server didn’t even acknowledge us for 15 min. Food was just ok. Honestly just don’t think I’d ever go back. There are plenty of other accommodating and delicious restaurants downtown Naperville.
Horrible customer service over the phone- I called twice to try to make reservations and both people I spoke with were incredibly rude. I was trying to make a 2 person reservation which they made seem was completely unachievable due to the “$150 minimum” you have to spend. The people I spoke with didn’t even seem like they wanted to entertain a 2 person reservation. I tried booking 2 weeks out and the man said ‘ yeahhhh.... things are booking pretty far out’ he didn’t even offer to look into another date and time. Then I called back thinking it may be fun to go for New Years and the girl I spoke with told me ‘they aren’t taking New Years Eve reservations’... but if you go to open table, yes they certainly are and there was an 8:45 opening. Unfortunately, if you have a party of 2 they say ‘your party is not large enough’ to book on open table so you have to call to make the reservation and that’s how I got the run around in the first place. You’d think with restaurants struggling to survive right now they’d want to at least TRY to accommodate someone who is going to spend money at their restaurant but I got the impression that I just wasn’t good enough for their restaurant. Too...
