This is my second time eating here so now that the novelty has worn off, I feel I can give an honest review.

This restaurant is unlike most others you would have been to if it’s your first time. It’s something between a buffet and a regular sit down restaurant and takes the best of both worlds from it. An open salad bar for you to stock up on anything that’s not meat. Walking around the restaurant you will notice staff carrying around meats of all kinds ready to slice you off a piece if you decide to go with the full service/experience which is ~$40-$60 depending on wether you want 3 extra options. I would highly recommend a full experience for your first time here. I came with a group of 4 set for a reservation at 6:30. They must have been very busy since it was about 12 minutes after our reservation but in my opinion it’s nothing to be upset about. Jackie was our waitress. She was very friendly and smiled all the way through our dining experience. The salad bar options are always delicious and being maintained to ensure nothing runs out. I had almost every option from the salad bar and they were all delicious. -The bad: for a place that calls itself a steakhouse I expect nothing less than perfect temperature of the steaks. If you ask for medium, you should receive medium. On multiple occasions when I had requested medium, I received a rare to medium rare piece of meat. This was the complete opposite of my first experience here. I would expect consistency. The saving grace to this is that Kevin the customer service expert made sure personally to correct any issues and even cut the steak himself to ensure that the pieces I had were the correct temperature. I asked specifically for a rare, medium, and well done cut to test the quality and accuracy of the cuts which were satisfactory. Unfortunately, some of the other staff don’t seem as well informed on what a medium and rare steak looks or feels like. I imagine they just have new staff still learning the ropes since I had one guy come up asking if we would like to sample meat when all of our cards were put down facing red “no thank you”, which was an eye brow raising moment but that’s just being extremely picky.

TLDR: service staff are excellent! Steak cuts were mediocre. Salad bar is excellent! The ability to make things right? Perfect. Kevin turned my experience from 3 stars to 4 by making sure to make it right. Unfortunately I have to give 4 stars because a “steak house” should NEVER have issues with steak temps and cuts more than one time.

Despite this, I would still come back here solely because I’ve had a 5 star experience before and believe this was just a...

Unfortunately I had a bad experience at this location in Naperville on 1/17/25. The service was extremely terrible as I waited 20÷ minutes for lamb chops after being told it would take 7-8 minutes. The restaurant wasn't crowded as there may have been only15 people total dining..I spoke to 3 servers to let them know I was still waiting on lamb chops during my wait. Lamb chops finally arrived and they served the entire skewer to another guest who had just sat down to dine! Then proceeded to give me the last single baby lamb chop after the long wait and multiple discussions. Of course I asked for another and 15 minutes later more were brought to the table but at rare temperature when I clearly asked for medium well several times. In between all the wait and confusion, I was offered to try a medium rare rib eye, which I replied no thank I prefer medium well. He returned 10 minutes later with the steak. As I prepared to use the tong to grab the sliced meat from the skewer, the server scraped the entire block of meat onto my plate and walked away in the middle of me telling him I didn't want a 2 x 4 x 4 inch block of meat on my plate. I immediately called over the house manager and showed her my plate and told her what had been happening during my entire dining experience. She did apologize for the poor service. When the bill arrived I asked for compensation for the bad dining and service experience, again, not looking for a free meal, but some form of compensation. Another manager came over (Ricardo) and I then had to explain the entire evening to him as well. He was nice, but only offered me his business card and no compensation. Other guests also chimed in as they witnessed the same poor service to my table as well. A 5-10% discount would have been sufficient, or just take off the $10 cocktail they convinced me to try before I was even initially seated. I politely returned his business card and paid for my food and expressed my disappointment with the service and lack of concern and accountability for customer satisfaction. I will never return...

Let me start by saying our servers were phenomenal. Jason was still in training but kept us topped off with water, side dishes and fresh plates consistently. Will gave us phenomenal reccomendations and really made us feel comfortable. Even Kailey, who was more focused on training and administrating was more than happy to chase down slow drinks and missed gauchos for us which was a godsend. The food ranged in quality pretty dramatically. Everything, and I do mean everything from the salad bar had an 'ozone' kind of plasticy taste which im guessing is them trying to use some decontamination something or other, which im glad they do, but it spoiled otherwise really nice and diverse offerings. The meat from the gauchos was a 5050 shot every time of being a phenomenal piece to being a chewy mess of grizzle. The big winner was the bottom sirloin and it wasn't close: well seasoned and a nice deep pink rare. The biggest loser was definitely either the garlic steak or the top sirloin, the first of which I was handed an inch thick 4 inch long wad of straight fat and connective tissue. The top sirloin i was given the thinnest possible sliver of largely unseasoned and thoroughly well done meat, that was somehow cold despit it being the first cut on the piece after it left the kitchen. Idk if that's a kitchen issue or a gaucho issue but it was unimpressive. The golden guava cocktail was amazing though and with all that meat, I was more than willing to let a couple bummer pieces fly. The average experience was very good regardless. The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming and our wait crew was so kind as to give us a beautiful piece of brulee cheesecake (EXCELLENT suggestion Will!!!) in honor of my partner and my 2nd anniversary. I always worry in places like this we, as a queer couple that looks like a couple of schlubby dudes, will get questioned or written off or even just ignored (it's happened), but this team really made our special night all the more special. Thank you so much to the Fogo team.

Tonight’s experience at Fogo de Chao was far from the exceptional dining I’ve had there before. As a frequent diner, I’ve visited Fogo at least seven times in the past couple of years, and tonight’s visit left me questioning whether I’ve been choosing the right establishment for my cherished memories. The service was abysmal, characterized by a complete lack of attention. We had to repeatedly ask for basic items like water and drinks, and even after requesting chimichurri and Fogo hot sauce four times, they were only served as part of our meal. Surprisingly, the meat selection was also disappointing. We never saw or received beef ribs, rib eye, lamb chops, pork belly, or pork chops, despite our repeated inquiries. Furthermore, we were completely overlooked for any special occasions or celebrations. The manager never even touched our table, which was a stark contrast to the attentive service we’ve experienced at Fogo in the past. To add insult to injury, we were only asked about our experience at the end of our meal before receiving our bill. That’s when I decided to voice my dissatisfaction, stating that our service had been the worst we’ve ever had at Fogo. Despite my feedback, they insisted on offering us a complimentary dessert, which turned out to be a curdled crème brûlée. It was truly a disappointing end to a night that started with excitement. Incidentally, we had chosen Fogo to celebrate our recent wedding, which took place just a few hours before our dining experience.
