Jin 28 — Restaurant in Naperville

Love this place, been getting food from them for years. I brought a co-worker, from my new place of employment, to the restaurant yesterday (3/2/2020 at 1:15pm-2pm) after raving about their food. Had a terrible experience, the waitress was extremely rude, told us "NO" when asking to substitute a regular egg roll for a spicy egg roll even after saying we would be okay with an upcharge. My co-worker asked for his soup to be made spicy she said no we can't do that (although it's been done many times in the past when I have been there). When she refilled our water and even brought us our food we told her thank you each time and each time she ignored it and just looked away. Not even a "your welcome", or a "my pleasure". My co-worker had even said "is it just me or is she being unnecessarily rude?", We both agreed It was clear to see she was unhappy to be working and was not in the mood to talk so we avoided it as best we could. Unfortunately however when my co-worker got halfway through his entree soup, he found black hair in his soup. We informed the waitress and she said "I will take it off your bill," she did not even apologize or say anything showing any sort of concern for my co-worker's experience. We immediately asked for the bill, I paid it 100% because I felt guilty to have ever recommended going there. I could have gotten over bad service as it is not the cooking staff or the owner's responsibility for the waitress's attitude, but when there was sanitation issues on top of that reinforced again by poor service and lack of any sort of sympathy or empathy. I will never again recommend Jin28 to anyone, nor will I ever go back. I will make sure to warn people about service and sanitation at this restaurant. I am absolutely mortified that I took a colleague there after telling him such good things...

We ordered some chicken fried rice and a couple of sushi rolls. The fried rice was disgusting! It tasted like it was two days old the chicken was chewy it was cold by the time it got to us even though the delivery was very fast. The California roll was extremely bland which I would kind of expect from a California roll, but this was beyond bland. I had a different roll that was supposed to contain deep fried shrimp avocado, spicy mayo, massago, and white tuna. It was cold and tasted very very old just like the rice. The white tuna on top was extremely thin and chewy which is not what white tuna is supposed to taste like, white tuna is amazing! This was disgusting! There was barely any massago, spicy mayo, or avocado. When I say barely any I mean you could just barely see orange on top and there was one tiny piece of avocado inside of the roll. We called the restaurant to let them know they argued with us about what we had in front of us, they obviously don't care about what they are serving their customers. Long story short we ended up with terrible food poisoning. DO NOT eat here!!! I should've never gone with anything different than what I usually get and stuck with Yamado, the best sushi place...

Ordered take-out. Service was v quick and efficient. Thats where the positives end.

The food was really awful. We ordered: Siumai - It was steamed mass produced frozen dumplings. Its filling was mainly starch with a token meat flavoring. Large chicken Lard Na - it was fine, salty and underwhelming. Lots of chicken, but lacked balance in the sauce. Old country Tofu - same sauce as the Lard Na. The wrong tofu was used. They used firm tofu which tasted leathery. Egg tofu or soft tofu would have worked better in this application. Beef red curry - was the worst. An imposter! Frozen pre-fried beef was tasteless, and didn’t even taste like beef. Cooked w red peppers, onions, mushrooms and bamboo shoots. Lacked anything Thai and anything curry. Zero heat. Sweet diluted coconut sauce coloured green w a hint of bad red curry paste.

Sorry but cannot recommend. We liked the Jin28 in Carol Stream. So very disappointed with the Naperville branch. If I could rate it zero...
