I have been to SixtyFour several times before and it’s always been ok. However, after my latest experience at this restaurant I will not be back and will be advising you to do the same.
To begin with, our waitress was very cold with us. I thought maybe she was having an off day but then I observed her with other tables and it was a completely different person. Cracking jokes and smiling to everyone one else. All the other servers were perfectly nice. The food was ok. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t anything extraordinary either. The wine list is very extensive and really that’s the appeal.
The problem started when it came time to pay. When the waitress brought our bill, the check was significantly bigger than we expected. Upon inspection we realized that we were being charged for 8 glasses of wine. We were a two party and only had 3 glasses. When we pointed out the error to our waitress, she kept insisting that the system could not be wrong, that the wine was charged in chronological order, and that we must have pressed more buttons/drank more wine than we were saying. We continued to the explain that (A) the list was not in chronological order as the first glass we poured was the second to last on the list; (B) we only had two glasses on the table (nothing else had been cleared away); and (C) we had only poured 3 drinks (and that’s because the second drink we tried to pour was supposed to be 6oz and it only gave us 3oz).
We asked to speak to a manager and our request was denied by the waitress saying she was a manager. We continued to explain that the bill was wrong and we were met with accusatory looks and words. The waitress finally asked the general manager to step in. We proceeded to explain to the manager what was wrong and the same thing happened. We even asked them to check their cameras but they ignored our request. Finally and reluctantly the manager took off the extra charges from our tab.
I have never been treated like this before and...
Read moreI planned a night out for six women. We were very excited about going. A young women in the group is just getting into wine so she likes the very sweet wine and is on a tight budget and we had a women who is particular and knows exactly what she wants and her love for wine doesn't really have a budget. In other words, big range in taste and budget between the six of us.
The staff refused to give us each our own card. Six of us had to share one card. Not only was it annoying to have to wait and walk as a group to get our wine, we had to put it into one credit card which was concerning because of the difference in budget between the group. We were told that they don't have enough cards to give out and they would not split bill because it wasn't convenient to them (the restaraunt). Our server disappeared for quite sometime. After a couple of rounds on all sides of us sharing one card, We decided to buy a bottle to drink at the table. We were told they ran out which turned out to be a good thing because they would have charged us $110 for it even though the "takeout" price was $89. When we finally got the bill it was on a tablet. There server said that although they won't give separate bills, we can give up to 5 credit cards. Good thing one of us had cash. We had to ask they print the bill so we can itemize it, the server seemed annoyed and said, most parties just split everything evenly. Well that wasn't going to work because the 21 year old ordered $1.89 taste of wine and a salad while someone else ordered a couple of $15 tastes plus dinner, cheese and bottle. It was so frustrating to go line by line for everyone. It took forever. I haven't had to do that for atleast ten years. Just for that reason alone, none of us will return. It was more about what is more convenient to the restaraunt over...
Read moreVery disappointing evening. Sixty-Four Wine Bar had trivia night, there were two of us, we had looked forward to having a fun evening. It was everything but that. It first started with our waiter, he dropped off water and provided us with the wine card which was fine. We went over to get the wine, the one we wanted only had enough for one glass. We notified the manager and she went to get a new bottle. We waited about at least 15 minutes or so, then someone else came back telling us they were out of that particular wine but they had something similar, she gave us a taste which we liked. She went to enter it into their system which ended up taking some time. Finally she came back, put the bottle in the dispenser and when we went to have it poured, it didn't work. I immediately went to get the manager, she worked on it, we went to get a pour and the dispenser only poured maybe about 3 oz if that, we wanted 6 oz but at that point we just decided to go back to our table. So now we were ready to order food and our server NEVER came by to take our order. We saw him standing across the bar, we tried to get his attention but never looked our way. He looked like he was playing the trivia game. I got up to get the manager and asked for our check and advised her how we had sat at our table for over 20 mins and our server never came by. The server came by and dropped off the check and never apologized. I was disappointed with the manager, she could have offered to have someone else to serve us, instead she barely apologized. It's too bad because we have been here before and the service was outstanding. I tried to understand that sometimes people are busy or they are having a bad day but this was not the case here. It was slow and again the server seemed to be more interested in...
