Unprofessional and Disrespectful Experience – Very Disappointed

I brought in a very sentimental ring that once belonged to my grandmother. While it may not be worth much monetarily, it holds great personal value. Unfortunately, that was dismissed right away—Edmond made a comment that “jade isn’t worth anything,” which felt dismissive and unnecessary, especially considering I had just explained the sentimental significance.

The first time I picked up the resized ring, it did not fit—through no fault of mine. Edmond re-measured my finger and agreed to adjust it. When I returned a second time and it was still too big, Edmond immediately became angry and raised his voice, insisting I should have chosen to add sizing beads (which he had previously mentioned). I had declined that option, having had beads added in another ring before that no longer fit over my knuckles.

When I tried to calmly explain my reasoning, Edmond became visibly frustrated. Dawn, who was present, tried to de-escalate the situation, but he waved her off and stormed away. I was shocked—not only by his tone but by how unprofessional and disrespectful his behavior was. No customer—especially one trusting a family heirloom to a professional—should ever be treated that way.

This experience was upsetting and deeply disappointing. I cannot recommend this jeweler, and I will not be returning.

I went out of my way to go to Naperville to this shop on the advice of my dad, who had good experiences in the past. I had both my engagement ring and wedding band resized (both decreased in size) and I'm a bit disappointed with the final results. Both have visible lines where the ring was cut to be sized down. There are also black smudge marks that - from some research online - appear to happen when someone uses the wrong tools for platinum. There also seems to be some small scratch marks as well. I'm not sure what happened...I'm not interested in going back...I'll find somewhere else closer to home to have a look and see what can be done. Fortunately these marks are all on the part of my rings that aren't primarily visible...but still...I love my rings and it's upsetting that they aren't as in good of shape as they were before. Another thing...not the biggest deal but a bit frustrating...I called to check on my rings because it had been a few days beyond when I was told they'd be ready. Someone apparently tried my phone number, when the number didn't work, they wrote on my order form that the number had been disconnected...and then nothing. So I guess it was good I called. They felt one of the zeros was a six...I have a six in my number and three zeroes. All it would take was some observation to see that I write my 6's one way and 0's another. If anything, try a zero instead of a six - then my number would've worked. Just odd that they tried once and...

I just had the worst experience from this business. I’ve been going to Edmond (Naperville jewelers) for many years but never again! I went there a couple of days ago to ask him to design a charm for me. He said he will cast it and show it but I’m not obligated to buy it. Then I asked him about a pendant he had displayed and he said he wouldn’t sell it until I make up my mind on whether I want that or the charm. I said I’d come back on Wednesday and decide then. He took the pendant out to save it for me until Wednesday. I went there today and saw that he made the charm bigger than I wanted so I said thank you but I’ll take the pendant. Then he said his associate Dawn sold it. I was surprised by that given that he promised me he would not sell it and took it down from display. He completely blamed and swore that Dawn sold it. But Dawn didn’t seem phased by this accusation at all! I asked how is this good business if you promise one thing and within a day you turn around and be this disloyal? He just walked away and said “bye”. Seriously rude and unprofessional. How do you kick loyal customers out of your store!! I’m disgusted by his level of professionalism and will never recommend nor go there again! He doesn’t deserve any star...
