Took my mom and daughter here for a treat. None of us had been and it seemed like a nice way to spend mother's day. The shop is cute with over 100 scents to choose from (they have u choose up to three) we all found the manager on duty (I think she was British based on accent but only saying that to differentiate her) very rude. She rushed us to pick our scents and hovered over us ruining the entire experience considering that's the whole reason I was spending $50 a piece on a single wick candle was to curate our own fragrance and enjoy that process together. Mind you we were not picking for hours, barely 10 minutes and the place was empty! My mother felt so uncomfortable she just said "it's ok ill just make the same one as you" and put back the one scent shed chosen. Manager was condescending behind the bar/counter too to the staff telling they should b doing some else while we stirrred within ear shot of guest is tacky and to my mother whod stopped stirring 5 seconds before the 2 minute timer (bc she was having a heartfelt convo with me) lady sniped "did the timer go off‽?" When she knew it didn't rather than nicely reminding her to keep stirring. The young lady who actually helped us pour and all was lovey and the only reason Id give it a star at all. No one offered us a drink either even after I commented on the menu display as I was not aware they served drinks. Was not happy with how it went and would not recommend to others. Perhaps they need to set aside more time for their guest to do the actual fun part of this experience. Complete waste of my money. Do better, be more pleasant to your customers,...
Read moreThis is probably the most rushed I have ever felt at an art experience like this. While I would probably do candlemaking again, I wouldn't do it here. When I arrived for my class, apparently it was just before opening. The sign on the door actually said "Open," but the person inside signaled to me that they weren't open yet. This felt pretty rude that she didn't even open the door to speak to me - particularly given that we had a decent sized group. It is very off putting to know you brought a group who would eventually spend hundreds of dollars only to be waved away.
I left and realized I was 10 minutes early, but I wasn't aware that my appointment was the first appointment of the day AND that they would not allow you to come in until exactly that time. It would be helpful to clearly communicate expectations for the first group of the day. But it would have been even better to allow me to come in out of the cold, demonstrate hospitality, and perhaps let me start smelling scents - because once the class started, the instructor said firmly that we did not have time to smell all of the scents. This was the beginning of a “please quickly move along” theme.
The class was fine, but again, they made sure you kept it moving. The instructors were fine, but I also felt that they seemed a bit uncomfortable with our group. We were a diverse group.
We were pretty much in and out in an hour. I don't plan to return. This is quite an expensive experience to be motioned to that you should stay out in the snow and cold and then feel rushed to smell scents, and then rushed to vacate your seat once you come in. I did not feel...
Read moreVisited this place with family and had a great time! All of the staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive and explained every step of the process clearly and carefully. They had over 100 scents that you could use to make your candle (wild) and the process of discovering which scents would work best for you was also enjoyable. Got to smell some truly uncommon scents like Tomato Leaf, which did not end up in my candle but again, fun to experience. There were also kid-friendly scents like toasted marshmellow and gingerbread. After picking your scents and making the actual candle, you do have the option of switching scents or starting anew, so you do have room for trial and error. You have the option of making a candle or a reed diffuser and if you choose a reed diffuser, you can take it home the day of. If you make a candle, you do have to wait for it to set or cure and may need to come back to the place on a different business day for pickup although shipping is also available. They had drinks there as well - wines, beer, and hard seltzer. There's also other wares and items you can buy like jewelry and lotions. But ultimately I had a great, interactive, and inviting experience here and was finally able to achieve a candle scent that I've been on the hunt for but couldn't find, just had to make the candle myself! Totally recommend...
