I am sorry, The new management is awful, First time I went in under new management approximately 4 weeks ago they ran out of bagels by 9:00 am. By 9:00 am !! and the only bagel left in all the baskets was an "asiago" bagel which they wanted to charge me the upcharge price because that bagel is considered a specialty bagel... I didn't run out of breakfast food at ohhh? BREAKFAST! I am not sure why that happened, however, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried again today. 4 weeks later figuring they had it "ironed out" some of the "kinks". I ordered a sesame bagel with lite cream cheese and bacon along with a small coffee. They had run out of regular coffee but they hadn't realized this so instead I settled for the decaf coffee. okay, still trying to be positive! I got to my office and bit into the bagel and oil just seem to drip out of this bagel everywhere! Disgusted! I just threw out the bagel because it was dripping in oil! I miss Steve and his lovely wife.... For the second time they are explaining to patrons that the formula is the same way Steve made them, this might be true but not the service or the quality of the sandwiches. oddly enough, they seem to have 2 more people working in this establishment than Steve and his wife had yet they can not seem to get their act together. I gave it a second chance but I was disappointed for the second time. I wish the new ownership great success as a local resident and former patron. I want everyone to do well that lives and works here! However, they just lost me as a customer. Oh, by the way, I am from Brooklyn, I was born, raised and lived there much of my adult life. You might want to consider...
Read moreBest bagel I've had in 9 years, beyond when we have had visitors from NYC bring bagels when coming to stay with us. The bagels at Brooklyn Dough are BETTER than some current Brooklyn bagels shops. These bagels remind me of what I grew up eating - big, fluffy, and chewy, with a perfect crust, intended to be eaten untoasted.
The eggs are griddled here, unlike the microwaved eggs most Florida bagel spots use.
We brought a dozen home, and after sitting around for over 8 hours, they were still in fresh condition when we tore into a couple more that evening. The trick is to put the paper bag they come in into a plastic bag, well-sealed.
My qualifications for leaving this review: Brooklyn native - 21 years spent living there, eating at every Bay Ridge & Bensonhurst bagel shop at least every few days. Then moved to Staten Island, which also has great bagels, living there for another 9 years. Made my way to NJ which does not have comparable bagels, but they're better than what we have found living in Florida the past 9 years. Tampa Bay has a bunch of "NY-style" bagels, but none of them meet the mark. They're more lenders-style bagels. We have tried bagels in Miami, Key West, Orlando - none come close. Until we spent a few...
Read moreSo. Good. Wow. Best bagel I've had since I've been in New Jersey. Ok, the rye pumpernickel was not enough rye nor pumpernickel flavor, but the texture and chew were on point. The whitefish was excellent as was the cream cheese lox. We are just here for the weekend visiting, but before we fly out, we'll be back for a dozen to go! I hope to try the pastrami.... Prices are really reasonable. Friendly greeting upon entering and atmosphere is nice. Parking was easy.
Day 2: Tried the pastrami--oh man, I wish I hadn't because now I'll miss it after I leave. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with pastrami, hold the cheese and egg (note: while you pay extra to add items, there's no discount for removing items) with spicy mustard on a salt bagel--so damn good. Drip coffee was excellent too.
Ordered a dozen bagels to go (there is a discount for ordering a dozen) and they put the messy ones in separate sleeves--love this because there are some people who don't want their plain bagel besmirched with someone else's everything...
