Royal Cafe Narberth — Restaurant in Narberth

I’m sad to say this, as I had such high hopes, but my husband and I had a much less than stellar experience at dinner this evening. I was really looking forward to it, as everything on the menu sounded incredible. I enjoyed the lovely outdoor seating, and our waitress was so sweet, bubbly, and accommodating. We started with drinks, and my wine was excellent and my husband’s cocktail was really unique and yummy. I should add, we came during the advertised Happy Hour and ordered almost everything we got from this menu, which had great pricing. The appetizer of veggies with bacon was lacking; definitely could have used a better variety of vegetables instead of just broccoli and cauliflower. The bacon was great though! I ordered the Chicken Shish Taouk as my meal, which was quite good, except that it was meant to come with garlic aioli and tzatziki dipping sauce, neither of which were present. The fries that came with it were good as well. My husband then ordered a beer, which was totally flat and smelled/tasted off. All of these things really could have been overlooked as a one-time thing, but when we got our bill we realized we had been charged full price for the wine, veggies, and cocktail, all of which were ordered off the Happy Hour menu within the times given. Our waitress was able to get the wine taken off the bill which evened things out a bit, but we still wound up paying more than we should have based on the menu prices. I don’t think we’ll be returning based on this experience, which is so unfortunate because of how close it is to us and how eager we are to support Narberth businesses! Maybe our experience was a rarity, and I hope that’s the case. Maybe with some more time to establish themselves, things could improve....

First time here: BEST DINING EXPERIENCE since Covid began. Good service, excellent variety in the menu. All the food was hot and fresh. Good portion sizes. Popcorn chicken was crazy tasty and tender. Trash ribs were great and good size. Narberth 5 alarm fire pizza was sloppy but so good (and fun twist with the bourbon on fire) Lobster roll was a good size (I thought it was slightly bland tasting but still good!). I had the apple cider old fashioned, and I never have mixed drinks out because I’m always disappointed, but this was not too sweet and just strong enough. Manager and owner asked how we were. Heat lamps throughout kept us warm even for a brisk October night outdoors. Seriously the most refreshing dining experience we have had in months. It felt so good to feel normal and eat...

My husband came to join me on my lunch break. I suggested this place thats across the street from my job. I told him I been wanting to try it. We had an organic burger. Can’t remember the name of it! I must say my husband & I love it! (My husband & I are from North Jersey. He told me this burger took him back home) Wow! It was delicious 😋. (It had fried onions, bacon, tomatoes, cheese melted on the meat, lettuce etc) I’m pregnant 🤰 the baby & I were so happy! Lol! When I went back to work after my lunch was over. I couldn’t shut up about the burger. All my coworkers and Boss know about the burger I had today 🤣. Thanks to the waitress who helped me pick my meal today.
