Great "soul food" in an atmosphere that makes us honkies feel the way Blacks probably feel when they go to a country music bar (or probably anywhere in TN for that matter). But after you talk with them a bit, they are really nice and friendly. Great Turnip Greens and cornbread (pancake-style) hot off the grill. Nothing is over-salted, like at most meat-and-threes. I should mention we went just before closing FWIW and they even served at least four more customers who got there as late as 30 minutes after they closed. Another nice gesture. The chef/owner asked how it was (we were done eating) and I told her I got one piece of chicken (white meat, haha) that was played out (chewy, overcooked); she very pleasantly offered to replace it next visit, and I do plan to go back. She also confirmed my compliment that nothing was over-salted, and that was a decision on her part to benefit customers with health concerns. Thank you! It's in a converted house, but easy to find, just off Gallatin Rd/OHB. They could film a sitcom here, the patrons are funny and the staff takes no s* off them... Only small complaint it's nine-fitty for meat and three - high for Nashville - but still better and healthier than fast food which always works out to ten bucks a...
Read moreFirst off, I am from out of town. This place had great reviews so we thought we would give it a try. The long and the short of it is they had great people working here, but the food was not good. My father had the fried chicken, which looked like it had been sitting for quite some time. My brothers and I had the chicken and dressing and it was not good. For sides I had the broccoli and cheese and the Mac and cheese. Both were well over cooked. The broccoli actually had good flavor, but it was quite mushy. This is the first place I have tried in/near Nashville and I hope the rest of the food does not follow this pattern. I give it a 1 for food, but the friendliness of the staff bumps it up...

Whoever making them cakes need to go to bed because that lemon cake taste like garbage my granddaughter can make a cake better then that one. No love in the food. The guy acted like he was scared to touch the customers hand but he wanted that money for that horrible food. Go back to cooking school whoever is doing the...
