This morning at Dose began pretty typically. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, coffee, and settled down at a table to work. I was the only black customer seated at that time. After being there for about an hour, a staff member who has never been particularly polite came to my table and asked if I wouldn't mind sharing it with someone else since they were short. I said sure. As she continued to stand there, I realized that she expected me to move. When I clarified that I'd rather not move my things but I didn't care if someone joined my table, she rolled her eyes, shook her head, and stormed off. Pretty shocked at that behavior, I went over to where she had walked to and told her that the disrespectful, passive aggressive behavior wasn't appreciated especially because I come to Dose all the time. She got defensive and said that she was merely following managerial orders to ask people to move. I pointed out three things: that I had said I was fine with sharing my table, that she was the one who had escalated things by acting so disrespectfully to a customer, and that I was the only patron that she had asked to move. She continued to be defensive. Finally, a manager came over to apologize and explain that the request to share tables was common. I'm not sure he understood that the issue was not with the request to share tables but with the behavior of his staff member who could not explain why I was the first and only person to be asked to move or why she felt it appropriate to roll her eyes and shake her head at a customer who was doing nothing out of the ordinary.
Unfortunately, this will be the last time that my family and I go to Dose. There are too many good and welcoming coffee shops in East Nashville for us to give our business to a place that does not value...
Read moreBeen coming in consistently for the last few weeks … and my go to order is just a basic coffee. But wanted to adventure out and treat myself to a latte today. Ordered a large honey cinnamon latte, and once it came out i realized that it was just a cup of flavored milk, with little to no hint of coffee taste. After talking to the barista .. she told me that no matter what size of drink you get, they put the same amount of espresso in it (2 shots). And that’s why the large latte came out looking more like milk than a latte … basically ordered a tall drink (same amount of espresso, but more milk). So with the difference in price between a regular and large … you’re just paying for more milk, not more coffee.
After this discussion, i ended up having to pay for another shot of espresso.. making my 7 dollar cup of “coffee” into an 11 dollar cup of coffee.
Unsure of future endeavors unless it’s just a...
Read moreFirst off, this is a super cute clean place but their coffee beans are not my favorite. You know those new hipster coffee places that taste a bit sour….this is that! so if that is your jam, you might love this place. I thought I was staying away from that sour taste because I opted for a Costa Rica espresso blend. I live Costa Rica coffee….usually. But this was sour tasting. Some people love it. I usually drink my espresso with just a splash of cream but had to doctor it up with more half and half, simple syrup and cinnamon which they have for you to use to your liking at the counter near by. I do love that and appreciated that bonus, however when I ordered I wanted 3 shots of espresso. They won’t do that. You have to order 2 or 4, which I find a bit ridiculous. I went for 4. I spent extra thinking it was going to be awesome...
