This barbecue is awesome. You would think that a place that has multiple locations might have lower quality barbecue, but that is the exact opposite of this place. They do everything right from their barbecue to their sides to their cornbread.
The only negative thing I COULD say is that the sides are very small for the price, and I wish they gave more, only because the sides are all so flavorful and it’s sad when they’re finished after a few big bites. Either way, I highly, highly recommend their bean salad, mac n’ cheese, baked beans, and banana pudding. Don’t skip the pudding. Best banana pudding around.
Now the cornbread. YUM. A big slab of cornbread that is warm and fresh comes with most of their meals. Pieces of corn and roasted tomato are in the bread and each bite has a different mouthfeel. The pieces I had were a tad on the drier side, but a quick fix by dipping it in my baked beans and barbecue sauce and “white” barbecue sauce fixed it.
And finally, the meat. Where to begin? Their turkey is amazing. You would think that a lean white meat might be dry, but it isn’t. Such moist, succulent turkey with great flavor.
Their pulled pork is also something to not pass on. They give a good variety of meat, fat, and burnt ends in their pulled pork and then drizzle on their sweet barbecue sauce on top. Definitely a must.
Their catfish tacos. You heard me right. Catfish. Tacos. At a barbecue place. If you’ve ever wanted one of the tastiest fried catfish barbecue tacos, then get them here. Don’t knock it till you try it!
Their brisket is solid. Nothing mind blowing, but just a good solid brisket that won’t let you down.
And finally, the pièce de résistance: the Tuck Special. This is only available during lunch. So if you are here at lunch and do not get this, you have made a terrible choice. This is a barbecue brisket, fried egg, barbecue sauce, and pimento cheese sandwich on a light and airy bread roll. Talk about flavor bomb. Talk about the umami overload. This is probably the thing that helps set Edley’s apart from other barbecue establishments in the sandwich game. Get it.
Finally, we had some pies that they get from another local dessert place called Colts Chocolates. We tried their chess pie and their white chocolate chunk Southern pecan pie. These were just as delicious as you would expect. For the “health conscious” people out there, be forewarned because once you start eating this, you can’t stop (and it definitely isn’t the healthiest item you could ever eat! Haha).
All-in-all, come here and you won’t be...
Read moreSUMMARY. Great barbecue place in Sylvan Park. Venue has awesome barbecue and is a prime spot for social gatherings. They are also set up for sporting events with multiple TVs. One of my favorite hangouts!
RESERVATION. No reservation required! It's quite a large place, and I've never seen it super packed. I usually come with a group, and we've never had issues getting bar or table seating. Just show up and enjoy!
AMBIENCE. Ambience is very lively during peak hours—almost like a sports bar (but not quite). You can hear people enjoying themselves while indulging. That being said, the noise is not gratuitous and will not impede your own enjoyment. Perfect venue for watching games while simultaneously catching up with friends!
LOCATION. Located right next to McCabe Golf Course near the circle in Sylvan Park. There is a small parking lot in back, but it is often full. Street parking is usually available for free, but it may take a minute to locate a spot. There is also a paid lot as well.
QUALITY. Quality is very good. Great barbecue! I almost always opt for the brisket tacos or burn ends, but everything is excellent!
SERVICE. Service is great! Never a long wait for food or drinks and the staff is super friendly!
VALUE. Value is good! I usually spend ~$25 all-in with tax and tip which includes food and a couple of beers. I am always happy to pay it given the quality and overall experience!
TAKEAWAYS. Great place for awesome barbecue in Sylvan Park. Perfect for social gatherings and sporting events. I recommend the burnt ends or brisket tacos, but maybe next time I'll venture out and try something new. Everything is good...
Read moreFor an establishment that for years has been one of my favorite local spots to take visitors monthly, Edley’s severely disappointed last night.
We all ordered bushwackers, which of course are delish. Pricey unless you visit on Wed (half off).
The ambiance and staff are great. But why do people come to Edleys? For the food… at least historically. We ordered the BBQ nachos last night, which we always do when we visit. I hadn’t ordered them (or visited here, for that matter) in about 6 months. We were EXTREMELY disappointed by the matchbox-sized plate of nachos, when we paid $13.50!!! There were 20 chips and a couple pieces of meat. The old order 2-3 years ago was 3x this size and very satisfying. (See attached photo with my hand on top of plate for size reference.. it’s so small you may have to zoom in)
To the GM: There are no excuses. Shrinkflation is not an excuse. As of now, I do not intend to return to Edleys until you actually do your job and evaluate your menu items from a customer’s perspective. Charging $13.50 for 20 stale chips is unacceptable. As far as I’m concerned, it is evident that you are far removed from knowing your clientele and what value means to them. There are way too many great restos in Nashville that provide a reasonable portion size for us to return here anytime soon. Should you use this review as a wake-up call to put the customer experience central to your restaurant, reach back out and I will gladly give you...
