Today's visit was our first (Saturday, 11am). Party of three adults. TLDR: Didn't love it, but willing to try again since the location is so new.
The pros: Super clean looking. Cute decor that doesn't give dusty Cracker Barrel vibes. Friendly service from the two guys who were hosting. I appreciated that they took my phone number and let me wait in my car until there was an open table. Our server, Stephanie, was great and super on top of drinks. The openness of the layout made it obvious that the staff was hustling. They have a good sized outdoor area which should be nice when the weather is better. The servers have hand held devices so you can pay at the table.
Cons: The entrance/host stand has a bad layout. The host works from a sideboard up against a pony wall. So their back is to the door. This is just a couple steps inside the doors, so with people standing around waiting for a table, it is not clear who is a host and who is a customer. Feels chaotic, especially with so many people waiting.
Second worst avocado toast in Donelson/Hermitage. The description was "Toasted Tuscan bread, smashed avocado, and fresh picante salsa served with two eggs". I got full avocado slices rolled in a near unedible coating of Old Bay seasoning splayed on top of dry toast. With scrambled eggs on the side. Depressing.
Mom got the crab cake eggs benedict. The tiny portions were a blessing in disguise. The crab cakes were so gross! She put a piece on my plate and i could smell the swamp right away. I took one little bite and barely choked it down. Tasted what I imagine a poorly run bait shop smells like when the A/C breaks down in the middle of summer. She only ate the eggs, which she said were good.
The kitchen was slow. We waited 25 minutes for very basic food. We could see the servers waiting at the pass to grab plates as soon as they came out. All the tables around us waited too, so it wasn't just our order.
We'll probably try again because the omelets looked good. Pancakes or waffles could be a safe bet. But with other local options like Nadeen's or Flat Tire, this place really needs to work on improving the kitchen in...
Read moreWe ordered a to go order and multiple items were incorrect. I can give a pass for that and often don’t even try to do anything about it but today it was quite egregious and my son kids meal scrambled eggs were undercooked and still liquid.
When I called to speak with manager (?)Gary, perhaps? Wasn’t very accommodating but instead tried to explain how I was wrong and my complaints were invalid. I found him to be rude and condescending. My mom said the same thing, she was like “sheesh, he could’ve at least apologized instead of trying to prove you wrong”. He wanted me to come back for sausage patty’s and French toast but that defeats the whole premise of to go food. When I asked for an item to be comped, he said he would give me a $10 voucher on a return visit. Since I wouldn’t eat here again due to the food quality, and customer service I declined. I again asked to have the foul meal removed and he wouldn’t. I let him know I would call my CC company to have it all voided and he hung up. Point taken, I’ll definitely not be coming back and will now share my experience with others.
Food itself was very bland and each meal had an issue with the preparation. My mom’s French toast was burned on one side and not cooked at all on the other. Some bacon was cooked just fine, some burned black. As mentioned before my sons eggs were still runny and I worry for salmonella on a little ones immune system. His fruit was also old prepped fruit that was soggy.
I would at best call this unseasoned elderly yankee food. Probably great if you’re a heart patient and need...
Read moreI ordered the biscuits and gravy which comes with 2 biscuits and eggs. The plate was bought out by someone else, and was announced as biscuits and gravy but there was no gravy. After mentioning there was no gravy, a very small cup of gravy was brought to the table. When the server came to check on us I immediately asked for more gravy since what I had thinly covered 1 of the biscuits. She forgot to bring it. When she came back about 10-15 minutes later to ask if we needed anything else I asked for the gravy again. She brought the same amount out but the biscuits had gotten cold and hard so I left half of it on my plate.
Then the check came and there was a side of gravy added to the ticket for $2.79. I mentioned that they shouldn't charge for a side when it didn't come with enough to begin with. She said she'd let the kitchen know?? No manager came over, no offer to take it off the ticket BUT we were invited to come back. To add to my disappointment the table next to us ordered biscuits and gravy and their's came out covered in gravy and not on the side at all. In all honesty the gravy wasn't good which made the entire experience even worse.
Consistency is important. People go back to restaurants where the food is not only good but consistent, and where you are taken care of and your satisfaction is valued. If you mess up you make it right. To me this was an obvious error and should've been corrected without the customer having to say anything. I won't...
