After a long day of shopping with my mom and wife I left Opryland to head home. "Why don't we get a pizza from Papa John's?" (up until now one of our favorite pizza places) my wife said. Little did I know how much grief and pain that evening would bring.
I called the store nearest to our house and ordered one of their latest deals. Me: One large sausage and pepperoni pizza for 6.99 please. Evil Papa Johns: Okay we will have that ready in about 15 minutes. Your total is $7.49. Me: Cool, I'll pay when I get there.
So I arrived at the store and handed them my credit card. Sweet, no line, I am only moments away from delicious pizza. I asked for an extra garlic butter and they charged my card and gave me my receipt. Then they brought out my pizza, which was totally incorrect. Hey, I understand its a busy time of the year. No problem, so I asked for the manager.
When the manager came out they seemed to be unable to comprehend that I was a customer. I apparently was taking up their busy time by asking for the correct order.
Evil Manager: How can I help you sir? Me: Um, I ordered a large pepperoni and sausage and this is a medium chicken and olive. Also the name is wrong on the order so I want the pizza I ordered. Can you check again? Evil Manager: We don't have that pizza. We don't even offer that deal. Me: Okay, here is the coupon (I showed them the ad on my phone) Evil Manager: No that's not something we do, maybe if you were ordering like 50 pizzas. Me: Okay well the order wasn't right anyway, I don't want the pizza Evil Manager: So, what do you want me to do? Me: Give me a large pepperoni and sausage pizza for 6.99. Evil Manager: We don't have that. Me: Can I talk to someone else?
They then proceeded to sigh and disappear into the back of the store without really telling me what was going on. I saw shouting and waving of hands through the little window in the back, but at no point was I told to wait or that they understood my concern (this is delicious papa johns pizza we are talking about, you would think since they work there they would know how important it is!). At this point I was just considering just taking the pizza and trying to explain that I had decided I wanted this one instead to my wife and mom. Finally they returned.
Even More Eviler Manager: How can I help you sir? Me: I...want the pizza I ordered? Even More Eviler Manager: We don't have that pizza. (Again me showing the coupon, them explaining how I don't matter as a customer) Me: Can you just refund my money? I don't want that pizza you say is mine. Even More Eviler Manager: Fine, it make take two to three days to receive your refund. Me: Great I'm never shopping here again, and am going to Sir Pizza instead.
Poor form Papa John's, you can't advertise something and promise it to hungry holiday shoppers and then try to pull the old switcheroo to save a couple bucks. Also, maybe Saturday night is not the best night to train someone on how to use the system. And if they are going to make orders you better be sure they understand what coupons you honor. ALSO sausage and pepperoni does not equal chicken and olive, and large is not the same size as...
Read moreThis story begins after a long tiring day. You see, me and my girlfriend went looking for apartments and came home to enjoy a night on the couch binging a show on Hulu. We reviewed our options for pizza delivery and settled on Father John's. I pulled up the website (papajohns.com - this is an important detail) and we were off.
Thirty minutes pass and we receive a mysterious phone call from a woman telling us she's (assuming those are her preferred pronouns) our DoorDash driver and that she lives a half hour away and cannot deliver our pizza. She instructs us to cancel our order in the DoorDash app.
This is where the story gets interesting...
I had placed an order through Papa John's website and not through the DoorDash app, so I was puzzled at this mysterious woman's instructions to cancel my order through the DoorDash app. I still desired to eat the pizza. I did NOT want to cancel the order. I also had no intention of leaving my house, hence my choice for ordering the delivery option. But, I did not have the ability to cancel the order through the DoorDash app as she instructed.
As I saw it, I was left with two choices:
a) take matters into my own hands and call the PaPa John's store and begin negotiating possible outcomes to my pizza delivery
or...
b) do nothing and live in chaos
After pondering these options, I decided I couldn't live in chaos. I called the store. I was placed on hold for 15 minutes. Upon finally talking to someone, they were not sympathetic to my situation. They told me they did use DoorDash to deliver and I told them about this mysterious phone call from a woman telling me to cancel using the DoorDash app and that I was not able to cancel the order because I didn't order through the app.
After a few moments, I decided to cancel the order and get a refund out of pure frustration. My night-in with my girlfriend turned into what became an impossible situation: a delivery pizza... undeliverable.
Needless to say, less than 20 minutes after ordering and as I write this very sentence, the doorbell rang and we received a wonderful pizza from our Domino's delivery associate.
0/10 would not order from this Papa John's location again
10/10 would recommend Domino's delivery
I am in no way associated with or sponsored by Domino's in any way, shape or form. I am merely trying to feed myself and my...
Read moreOrdered through pj app, waited 90 minutes for the wrong food to arrive. Someone else’s order.
I asked to come pick my food up instead of having to wait for redelivery and was told it would be at least 45 minute wait regardless.
It only takes 8 minutes to run a pizza through the ovens at papa Johns and maybe 5 minutes to remake 2 large pepperoni pizzas. No reason I shouldn’t be able to pick up in less than 30 minutes regardless.
Not sure why papa Johns would rather refund $40 opposed to allowing me to come pick my food up in a timely manner. Telling someone who has already waited 90 minutes on delivery that they can’t pick up right away after the order was messed up is unacceptable. How hard is it to move a remake to the front of the line so I can pick up quickly? Instead I get blown off and told “45 minute wait for pickup or a refund” I say refund and the phone goes “click.” No acknowledgment of any kind.
The employee on the phone didn’t seem to care, no worries though. You won’t notice my missing business because Papa Johns has millions of customers world wide. Great way to make your customer base feel appreciated.
I guess employees make the rules now since there’s a labor shortage. I didn’t want any special treatment just a pizza in less than 2 hours. That’s all.
If you can’t do the bare minimum to make $40 why stay in...
