Really good food! We usually share the antipasti plate and I get spaghetti with bolognese...I like my sauce ON my pasta as opposed to tossed WITH my pasta...& that's the way I get it...they do serve the marinara tossed with the pasta...
As our plans changed, we chose Gondola House to dine for our 12th anniversary. The place was crowded and we slipped in and had to sit half booth/half table. It was kinda crowded. Server was Jared and he did a great job! Orders were correct & served quickly. (He did bring my entrée out before my wife's though) We got the antipasti platter, which seemed smaller than the last time. Isn't on the menu, but now you're in the know! Tidbits like such are a good reason to follow my reviews...spaghetti with meat sauce and my wife had Hawaiian Pizza
11/30/23 Date night with the wife. Her turn to choose. She had just eaten here the previous Saturday with her girlfriends and gotten a ham & cheese panini...and wasn't impressed. It's still our go-to for local Italian!
Hint: you can order the antipasti platter, which isn't on the menu any longer, but is really good and enough for two, especially since my wife doesn't eat olives! Meats, cheeses, artichokes, banana peppers and olives.
We each got spaghetti with meat sauce and she also go meatballs with her's...cleaned my plate like always! The sauce poured over the pasta, as opposed to mixed in, makes all the difference to me...

Date night and we wanted some place close by. You can always count on Gondola House....OR that's what I thought? Never gotten anything other than antipasti platter and spaghetti with meat sauce. Our server Ashlee was great, no complaints with her...but she informed me the kitchen has stopped making anything that isn't on the menu. (I've gotten the antipasti platter when it WAS on the menu, and when it WASN'T on the menu! What's changed? ) spoiled my appetite!...and my mood. Orderd the pancheddar burger with onion rings, nothing more than a bacon cheeseburger. It was good. My wife got the spaghetti with marinara. Sadly, this is probably my last meal at...
Read moreOur third visit to this location. Today my wife and I both ordered a pizza. She ordered a Greek pizza on a gluten free crust and I got a Lasagna pizza on a regular crust. Greek pizza looked amazing. Actually so amazing the table next to us of people on the way out stopped and asked what it was because it looked so good. As far a gluten free it was pretty good which is slightly unfair to say since most gluten free pizza is really bad. My wife gave it a 2.5 out of 5 stars. Not her most favorite but also not a 1 like most you will eat. The toppings were very good but she has her Favorite place for gluten free pizza in town and she give that place a 5 star as the best she has ever had and only place she has given 5 stars to for pizza ever. They are on White Bridge Rd.
Lasagna pizza was good. The crust has a nice crunch to eat and very taste for me. Found myself wanting more of the crust then the rest of the pizza. I give it a 4.5 on crust and a 4 on the rest of the pizza. I’m a New York style pizza guy and also have my favorite pizza place in town that I will give a 5 star rating to as well. They have two locations in town. one on the west side in Charlotte and one on the east side on woodland and the only place I have given 5 stars to for pizza ever. ( and not the same place as my wife)
So overall a good meal. Taste and nice wait staff and friendly environment. Just a bit pricey for a 12” pizza at $14.49 which I would say is a small pizza.
I would rate this a 3.5 stars out of 5 but i can only give whole stars and overall the price was a bit high, the wait staff was nice but nothing more then average and the taste was good but nothing to write home about.
Good food and I’m sure you will like it, just not 100% our best...
Read moreThe first time here we had a carry out pizza that was fairly decent it wasn't loaded with topings but not as skimpy as some others. The sauce was a little bland but some crushed red pepper helped. We decided to dine in and try something besides the pizza Rose had salmon she said it was ok nothing special and her salad was an uninspired house salad with a mediocre dressing. I had spaghetti with meatballs the garlic bread came out first it was garlicky enough but was cool not crusty with a damp pasty mushy center I didn't finish it. The spaghetti pasta was cooked nicely not tough but not overcooked but not well drained the sauce was a real disappointment it was thick enough but got thinned out by all the excess water from the pasta. The sauce was bland with little flavor besides tomato if rhere was much spice or Italian seasoning I didn't detect it even some crushed red pepper didn't help much. On the other hand the service was great our waitress was very busy she had a large number of tables but she kept moving at a fast pace. She took our order pretty quickly brought our drinks quickly I asked for half and half sweet tea and she got it just right sweet but not so overwhelming. She served the entrees steaming hot and refilled drinks just enough ahead we never had to ask. Our waitresses service was exceptional and the best part of our visit. The atmosphere is basically a busy loud generic cafeteria setting definitely not like a nice Italian restaurant. If we go there again it wouldn't be for anything more than a carry out pizza and only because it's slightly better than the other close places for an Italian dinner at a restaurant we'll go...
