First and foremost I am a loyal customer, that comes here once or twice a month with my family of five. Iāve been coming for years . I give nothing but respect to the 2 Asian guys that work . One is younger than the other one .
This particular day, I came in by myself while I was wait for my wife and kids to arrive .. I was patiently waiting to be seated as the sign says to wait to be seated ..while I was waiting I noticed 2 female employees hanging out at the counter playing with the phones and not doing anything .. I waited 10 or 15 minutes and the older guy came and sat me at the table . I waited another 10or 15 minutes at the table . No one came to acknowledge me or serve me . At this time the waitresses are looking around and walking by and not saying anything . My wife and kids arrive now. I wait another 10 minutes and no server yet .. I havenāt even been asked what I would like to drink . I get up and approached the counter to order my food instead, with the older guy . I tell him I rather order my food here . That no one is serving me .. he tells me , āif you donāt want to, you can leave ā I was shocked .. I said okay .. I went back to my table and told my wife and kids , letās go , as we are about to leave I approach the counter again and tell the guy..ā you know Iām a loyal customer ā he says ā just leave ā . Last time we were here, however, our mussels came out ... Crumbly? Soft? They were really not right and we'd never seen them like that. In the end, the manager made us a fresh batch and took a couple dollars off the bill so I wouldn't even mention it except that from the moment we pointed out the issue, the server and manager didn't seem to understand mussels shouldn't look like that (turned out they were spoiled from a fridge issue - yikes). They acted like we just wanted money off the bill, and we had to interact three times before they realized it was their mistake and made us a fresh batch. It just seems like a seafood place should know what their food is supposed to look like, and take potential spoilage issues more seriously. Maybe they deal with a lot of scam artists, but we just wanted what we paid for and felt a little criminalized for pointing out a serious safety issue.
With that said, we got a fresh batch of mussels that was perfectly fine. We've eaten at this specific location half a dozen times and never had an issue, never gotten sick, etc. My main complaint is about the way the issue was handled initially, not about the food in general. $215 was our bill total for two. For that we got crab legs that were hard to get the meat out of, that has the texture and taste of it being waterlogged. Thereās definitely an issue with their food quality, or storage, or preparation. The shrimp and corn were clearly frozen as well.
The food came out on a big dish that had a holder under it for one of those little can burners, but didnāt have one and was not very hot, then it went cold quickly. After about 20 mins it was completely cold so I asked if it could be reheated. The waitress came back with it a few minutes later and it was warm again, although clearly microwaved and went cold again almost immediately. With the burner that the dish is suppose to have this would have not been an issue at all, but as I said itās cheaply run.
Other examples of it being cheaply run was the craft paper covered tables. As well as full plastic utensils and a cheap foam plate. I was very surprised by the lack of actual plates and utensils.
There were a few positives though which is why itās 2 star. The waitress was very nice and attentive without being excessive or annoying.
