Definitely definitely no matter what you get as a main course try the potato salad it was by far some of the best potato salad I've ever had!!
Autumn saved the day. Just as I was getting up to leave she approached me asking if my brisket was cold? I told her that it was OK, she didnât have to worry about it, it wasnât cold, It was just room temperature or slightly above, I said itâs not a big deal, I donât wanna complain. She interrupted me and told me she wanted to make my experience great and I said thank you. Everything is great and then I said whoâs that for? ( because it looks like some more fries and brisket weâre getting cold) She said I brought this for you. I want it to be right! I told her I was fine and she said please take it if you donât want it you can take it home. I very graciously accepted, it was definitely better. It was warm and even tasted better than the first portion! Autumn was articulate and very pleasant. I will definitely come back just to let you know I left my review here so the rest of you know if you get the similar service/food just ask for Autumn make good. I donât complain I ask questions make observations and report. Iâll be back again and give it a try!!
Before Autumn saved my day review: No waters or waitresses, stand in line, place your order, pay then have the screen flipped around asking for tips before you eat or even given your food. Play brisket, King with fries and baked beans the fries were almost burning temperature not worth eating so they gave me some potato salad instead it was pretty good. The beans were pretty good. Also, the brisket was OK not really sure because it was practically room temperature slightly definitely not hot or warm. Iâll be back may give it another try but itâs definitely maybe. But it wasnât warm it wasnât hot. Iâm OK with it. Yeah I like this and theyâre like that. Iâm just letting you know. Itâs not a big deal. I donât wanna discount or nothing. Whoâs out for no no no I donât. Thatâs not my restaurant. We have hot stuff you know what let me try eat it but no, I donât take any food home No-no youâre wonderful thank you. I was just right. Maybe Iâll come back another time. I appreciate it and make you wait. Too many sausages I Know That much better and better thank you so much old man these kids hear me out. Youâre the only one in here that you could replace three of them and I know why you have so many of them. I feel bad for you but yes, Iâm tired of complaining because they just look down their nose at me cause they donât even know what Iâm saying. I know you wonât but Iâm just letting you I appreciate your sweet. Thank you very much. Whatâs your name youâre doing thank you.
. Plenty of help (4-5 people huddled)standing around chatting. I was trained in the restaurant biz that if you have time to stand around, you have time to grab a...
Read moreMy family and I were visiting Nashville for the first time during Thanksgiving week. Prior to the visit, we created a list of items to accomplish and visiting this restaurant was one of the few items featured at the top of the list. We first heard about this restaurant after watching someone on YT do a food challenge at this restaurant (basically seeing if they can finish the "Big Poppa Sampler" by themself). Needless to say, we were anticipating this trip for quite some time and it was well worth the wait. We have several good barbeque restaurants back home in Las Vegas; however, when we travel to another state, especially the ones that make bold claims about their barbeque, it's almost certain I'll be there to try it to see if it lives up to the hype.
When we walked in, we were met with the typical feel of a classic barbeque joint. It was warm and inviting, with the scent of smoked goodness in the air. We were also presented with some of the most outstanding employees known to man. Between the cashiers; to the folks who brought the food to the table; to the folks who picked up the dirty plates and cleaned up the table...they were all phenomenal.
Now for the highlight...we ordered the Big Brother Sampler [4 Spare Ribs (2 wet and 2 dry rub) and Brisket] w/Baked Beans and Slaw; Sliced Brisket Tray w/Potato Salad and Mac & Cheese; Pulled Pork Tray w/Mac & Cheese and Baked Beans, BBQ Nachos, Martha Ann's Fudge Pie, and Nadine's Pecan Pie. All the meats were tender and had the perfect amount of smoke flavoring, and the beans had an unexpected, yet pleasant amount of spice to it. I was slightly bummed that this restaurant didn't have any fried okra because there's something about eating barbeque with beans, cole slaw, and fried okra. But hey, I didn't lose sleep over it. The mac & cheese and potato salad were adequate; I've definitely had better at other barbeque locations in this country...but it wasn't horrible by any means. The nachos were exceptional and the desserts were spectacular.
The price-to-quantity/quality ratio was reasonable. I highly respect this business for their continued support to the active servicemembers, including its Veterans - thank you for that! If I were to make one recommendation, it would be to add a couple more heaters in the dining areas off to the side because when we were eating there, the cold air overpowered the warm, resulting in our food getting cold a lot faster. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. Trust me it is well worth the trip, if you're visiting the Nashville area. If you're a local, consider...
Read moreMoved up to this area last year from Chattanooga. Try Purple Dasiy BBQ if you're near Chatt-town. Bama Boys over in Henegar AL is our 2nd go-to.
However, being 2.5hrs away we tried some local bbq joints. 1st place was in Columbia and had been in a magazine article about how great it was.. I'll skip them since this isn't really the place.
Martin's, we got the family pack with as always the classic traditional staples. Pulled pork, baked beans , and last but not least cole slaw. Oh, grabbed a side of them puppies too cause cornbread is good anyway you can get it, right?
Puppies, basic puppy blend. Nothing special or to write home about. More dry than our liking.
Pulled pork, about middle of the pack in terms of worse and best. Wasn't loaded with burnt ends or fat nor was it crockpot style. Still lacked. Also noted a heavy smoke flavor. Not a fan of heavy smoke flavor. Almost like it was poured on. Jussayin
Baked beans, man I LOVE BBQ and while I rarely eat beans in other dishes, BBQ has to have beans. I'm guessing this is their attempt of cowboy beans.. that's great. I'm in TN tho NOT TX. Not sure when heat and spice became trendy but I wish it would stop. Thinking these are canned and spiced up. No evidence of green peppers or onions or Pulled pork....... maybe some artificial smoke carried over from the Pulled pork but zero meaty pieces. NONE. just beans and spices. Am I having Chili or bbq beans?
Lastly, the much anticipated cole slaw. Mannn, it's times like these I just settle for a FireHouse bbq sammich, until they removed it from the menu lol. Anyways, coleslaw lacked celery seed and many of the other ingredients that make slaw....slaw...
Originally, I planned not to leave a review. Been Combing thru every bbq with an hours drive. So far , JJ's and Martin's just don't cut it.
Tried BBq Cuties last week. Hands down better than Martin's.
Next up is Slick PIG, Shafers and Edlys. Edlys also in Chattanooga but never wanted to try them due to prices. Reckon I'm just getting desperate for some old fashioned homemade bbq without twists and extras.
Summing it up, this is the 1st place where we found ourselves tossing bbq in the garbage can in 15-20 years. I wanted to like it.
Staff is nice and polite. Appears...
