Exceptionally unique and beyond delicious dishes. All dishes came in a form that we weren't expecting at all. The chef here deconstructs and rebuilds the dish a unique way. We were pleasantly surprised with the form of almost everything. There should be a popup store that sells only the rabbit stew + toasted croutons. That dish still has me dreaming about it. On the negative side, I really didn't care for their take on pan con tomate. It has this heavy aioli/mayo that really weighs down the start to a meal, and the sesame seeds annoyingly get stuck in your teeth without adding much to the dish. We loved the lobster, adding bonito on top gives a great umami and the crunch of the cracker contrasts the otherwise soft elements. The cauliflower was really one to noodle on. Would have expected the scallop to be the main component but it's dried and ground almost as a breadcrumb on top. The flavors were so spectacular, definitely order this. My wife is still glowing about the crema catalana ice cream. Sweet, salty from the potato chips and caviar, crunch from the bruleed sugar. It was everything. Highly recommend this place, so happy to see creative cooking in Nashville as opposed to the monotony of southern family style cooking restaurants.

Gems of Nashville - Peninsula I don't know how I've missed this place but I would conclusively say it is a must visit. For anyone watching carbs, this is the most delectable place in Nashville while keeping those carbs way down. There wasn't a single dish that was bad and the bar game was on top of things as well. Highlights? The egg Tortilla thing? I want to learn how to make it for breakfast every morning. Even the random German turnip - all interesting flavors. The star of the show goes to the Iberico ham. Why? Let me just say this, I went to Spain about 4 months ago as y'all recall. I finally let myself sit down at a place where Iberico is a specialty. After I left the restaurant, I pouted. I pouted to the gods and sky because I really really enjoyed it and thought for sure that I was never going to be able to get something that high of quality unless in NYC or Spain itself. Peninsula delivered. It's a filet, it's a damn perfect filet but it just happens to be made from a pig. They nailed it! I will be going back just to eat this dish all over again. East Nashville has been delivering some international hits with this and Once Upon a Time in France and this comes from someone who literally travels the world to eat.

Top notch 5 star experience every single time I visit this old world style restaurant. The restaurant is owner operated, I see this lovely husband and wife team working hard there every time I visit. They manage to give you an amazingly creative ever evolving menu that will always surprise you, challenge your palette, and certainly make you a happy diner. Expect about 12 to 14 options on the menu all small plates. I find 6 to 8 good for two folks to share. The amazing staff balances coursing each creation out once you have finished the last with just the right pause to enjoy a few sips from your drink. Drinks include an excellent gin selection, a creative cocktail program and extensive wine cellar. We've found the bartender to be personable and very well versed at matching drinks with the courses. I really think this restaurant can stand up against just about any of the better known celebrity chef locations in Nashville. Plenty of nearby street parking and a parking garage.

I have wanted to take my wife since I heard the chef was nominated for the James Beard. When I made the reservations I indicated that I am vegetarian and my wife is Hindu veg (no eggs). I was a little concerned we would be difficult to accommodate but when we arrived, one of the owners seated us and gave my wife a menu marked with vegetarian dishes and they had crossed out by hand anything with egg. This was above and beyond the service elsewhere.

We ordered nearly everything vegetarian. As other reviews mention, the portions are quite small though I was expecting that. The broth was delicious though thinner than I had imagined. The beet/banana/habanero dish was good. The cucumber/seaweed/nasturtium tasted good, but was cut so thin it was quite hard to eat. I had imagined the nasturtium might be actual flowers but it was oil, making the cucumbers slippery and messy. I ordered the Spanish tortilla for myself knowing my wife couldn't eat it because the reviews were so good. The consistsncy was perfect, but it was surprisingly unflavorful. I think the maitake was a favorite for my wife. It was quite good but a little salty.

For dessert we had Root beer/walnut/dark chocolate. It was good, but too sweet for me so my wife finished it.

We both had cocktails though I can't remeber what they were. As I was checking the scotch menu thinking of a second drink, the waitress got the other owner to come help me decide. He didn't balk when I out a price limit on it and he chose a great scotch for me based on my flavor preferences.

Their attention to our dietary needs and preferences was far above the norm and this was much more attention than I have received from owners at most other restaurants. I also appreciated the good service and upscare offerings without snobby behavior from the staff.

We were pleased with our food though I would be lying if I said we didn't go home to eat some leftover pizza an hour or two later because we weren't full. I wouldn't recommend going when you are famished. Though we enjoyed our meal, I would need a quite different menu to return as it is limited and trying each thing once was enough. Overall worth...

My wife and I tried this restaurant based on an article claiming this was one of the ten best restaurants in Nashville. Both of us like a variety of cuisines and neither of us are picky eaters. The first thing that caught my attention was the menu. There were about 10 items on the menu with no description of what you were getting. We asked our waitress to please explain the menu as we had never eaten there before. She said that the items were usually shared and most people ordered around 6 items for their meal. Most of the items were around $12-$14 with the most expensive dish being $62. We order 2 items, the Italian tortilla and a sticky rice dish. The waitress did nothing to prepare us for the fact that neither of these dishes looked like a tortilla or rice. The "tortilla" more closely resembled a partially fried piece of Tofu. The "rice" was served in a bowl and was more like rice that had been extremely overcooked then molded into little cylindrical 1/2" rolls. (The sauce did have good flavor). These were not "shareable" portions. I would estimate our rice bowl to have about 2 tablespoons of food in it. The portions were small, the food was bland, and the price was high for what you received. We asked for our check and went somewhere else to eat. It was likely the worst $42 I've ever spent on food. The service wasn't terrible but we definitely did not get a warm welcoming vibe the entire time we were there. The entire experience was somewhat odd. Really hate leaving a 1* but I try to be honest with my reviews and this is my honest opinion....

Unfortunately, this restaurant is way overrated. We had a terrible experience with our food and my drink. I ordered a gin & tonic #5. It very much tasted like lemon water, although I have to admit that the amount of gin was fine. The wine my partner ordered was good. Then, we ordered olives, grilled bread, bone marrow, and chicken gizzards. To our surprise, the olives were not only warm (who heats up olives!?!?) but also small. You can get much better olives in any Publix store. The bread was over-grilled, almost burned. The butter and trout roe were tasty, though. Then, we received a cup of a dense mass of bone marrow. The first table spoon tasted ok, but then it was impossible to keep eating it. It was just too cloying/tedious. They should serve it with pita bread or something else, because of its strong flavor. At that point we decided to leave and asked for the check. Our server didn't ask if everything was ok, but instead forced us to pay for the chicken gizzards that we ordered but took some 20 minutes to arrive. We decided to take them home and give them another opportunity the next day. We microwaved them, but the odor was so bad, that we didn't dare to eat them. We threw them away. I am not sure if they changed the cook or something, but it doesn't deserve even half of the...
