Pollo Campero — Restaurant in Nashville-Davidson

I love this fried chicken, certainly not like the one you would buy from a Central American location, but close enough.

The 3 stars are for a few reasons

Food Quality:

The chicken is great, but that's it. The sizes are horrible in terms of quality and taste. The fries are definitely the kind you get at a grocery store frozen and then just thrown on the frier. The Cole slaw it's hands down the worst cole slaw I've had, and the fried yuca is very dry and flavorless. Honestly just get the chicken and buy your sides at Popeyes, or KFC, or even the store.

Management:

Every single time I come, I'm told something different. I'm about a 45 minute drive, so I usually get a food amount of chicken to bring home. The first time I was able to order over the phone and pickup at the store, it was great. The second time they said they weren't able to take orders over the phone anymore, so I went through the drive-thru. The third time I was told at the drive thru I had to come in and order inside. Today I was first told inside I could order through the drive through, then once I was at the drive through I was told I had to go inside.

They really need to pick a policy and stick with it.

Usually good or ok. I bought the family 8pcs and family size side of rice to go, paid $39.22 to be exact. Waited the first 10 minutes (this is normal) after which the cashier comes out to me and my little girl and asks if we want to wait another 10 minutes for freshly fried chicken, I had no problem waiting and assured her the wait would be no problem. Less than 5 minutes later she came with my order, I thought it was odd being it was way under the ten minutes as she expressed. Got home only to find what I can only explain as dry stale tasking meat, pollo compero is a regular part of my family rotation when it come to dining out or just picking up. Both chicken were stale and definitely was not just cooked. Needless to say how disappointed we were, ended up throwing five pieces of the eight in the trash. Normally I wouldn’t take the time to write about this type of experience however it felt so horrible to discover the meat that they sold me was not just cooked. FYI stale chicken makes you feel sick...

While I was placing my order the blonde lady stopped me to make sure they had what I was ordering and opened the metal door to see they did. I literally went to the bathroom not even 5 minutes and when I arrived to the table she gave me 2 different items than what I originally ordered. When I confronted her about it she said they "ran out" of the chicken we wanted. Even though she double checked before I paid .They also didn't have any more mashed potatoes so they tried to replace it with fried banana. I explained I don't eat fried banana nor did the other people I came with and she confirmed before I paid they had what we wanted.
