I’ve been a top fan of the behive for years, and recently I recommended to a friend, and their response was, “girl their Google reviews lately are bad!” This was a huge shock to me, so I went and saw for myself. As an avid Yelp user, I never read google reviews, but I am here to give a review anyway, mainly because I disagree with the horrible, untrue reviews that have been posted lately. I urge you all to look at the reviews these negative people leave and you’ll see a trend that they never have anything nice to say about anywhere.
Anyway, here is my honest, professionally accurate review of the palace I call the “behive.”
Vegan food has always been hard to come by in a chicken fried, dairy drenched city like nashville. I’ve lived here for over a decade, and have tried every single vegan place in the city. Out of all of them, the behive is the only place that caters to the foods that I have always loved eating prior to being vegan, but also having their own creative twists with specials and grocery items. The growth of options the behive has started offering just in the last 3 years has been astonishing and much appreciated by the majority of customers. That’s a fact that you cannot argue.
So let’s talk about the food. It’s always been good, but this is the 3rd menu change I’ve been around for, and I can wholeheartedly say that it is by far the best, most diverse selection. Vegan food has to be thoughtful, and in a way it’s challenging to get flavors that even the meat eaters will enjoy. The behive has succeeded with that. The culinary team and management have gone above and beyond to provide options for all types of diners. For example, with the feedback over the last few years, there are now half a dozen gluten free options. The addition of tofu has provided so many more diners with meals that satisfy, all while focusing on the groovy, ancient gift of tofu. The sandwiches remind me of what I’d make for myself after a hot day playing in the pool as a kid, and the waffle fries come out piping hot and crispy. Crunchwraps have been taking the vegan world by storm, and remind me of being 22 and in the drive through at 1am. I’m so glad to have 3 options instead of just the classic! If you haven’t tried the brunch one, you gotta. They took the feedback from the breakfast burrito and made it better, in Crunchwrap form. Think of it as getting a new pair of jeans that fit just right. It just works.
As for the rest of the menu, I have several highlights. Three salads? Slay! We love a healthy green vegan! I appreciate the options! MILKSHAKES? In nashville? Without DAIRY??? Literally groundbreaking. My heart swells with this option! Do you know how long it had been since I could suck down a milkshake without feeling like I was dying? TOO LONG.
Lastly, the grocery. This is a newer concept that has really blossomed since Covid. Unless you’re able to shop at specialty stores like turnip truck or Whole Foods, these options aren’t really accessible. The behive saw that and made it easy for diners to get a yummy vegan meal, and take home some of their grocery staples. I recommend getting a couple things every time you’re in, and then falling in love with items you make essentials in your panty! I love the pocket lattes, take and bake biscuits, hot sauces, and goat chips. Have you seen the sweet hazel candy bars? Don’t get one unless you’re ready to be hooked!
Overall, the behive is probably my favorite place in nashville. It feels like a safe haven for me - consistent food that makes me feel happy, staff that are cool and friendly, and grocery staples I can wow my non vegan friends with. I have and will always appreciate the thought and care that the behive has for nashvillians.
TLDR: behive is incredible. Wear stretchy pants and order one of...
Read moreI rarely write reviews online but was compelled to do so after ordering from BE Hive twice in one week while staying in Nashville for work.
As a lapsed vegetarian I often eat veg while traveling for work as it helps to offset the impact of eating out a lot. Having eaten vegan and vegetarian food in many of the major markets in the US I can confidently say the food here is not just among the best vegetarian food I have ever had, it is among the best fast casual food I have ever had, vegetarian or otherwise, full stop.
When I tell you this Crunchwrap analog did not last 120 seconds in my hands, I am not being facetious. As a connoisseur of crunchwraps both elevated and egalitarian this was the best one I’ve ever eaten. I could have taken down a second one immediately afterwards, which is not to say it was not good value for the money - this was after a 12-hour training day and I was famished.
All other items I have tried were delicious and great value as well. I would not know the cheese was vegan if you didn’t tell me.
One request - if you guys would do a version of the TB chipotle mayo that they put on everything, you would be nailing that style! But honestly who can complain, this obviously smashes actual fast food into the dirt.
This place rules. I’ll be back. Keep up the...
Read moreI think this may be my favorite vegan place in town... and I've been to so many! I am a huge fan of the alternative meats they serve here. I've eaten from here twice before writing my first review, and I can say that I haven't been disappointed in the least. The first time I came here, I got a Classic Chxn Kale Caesar Salad, and my friend got the Nashville Hot Sandwich (I think). I also got a sugar cookie. The salad was so good. I love how they dressed up the kale with the sunflower parm, and the Chxn was absolutely perfect. My cookie was also to-die-for, haha. The second time I ate here... I got the exact same thing, because it was so good the first time around. I did add some Buffalo Wings to my order, though, and they were awesome. I love how big they were, and the breading and texture was so good. I don't think I've had buffalo sauce as a vegan, and this was spot-on. I am definitely visiting again soon.
Update November 2024: I eat here all the time. I've had their specials, crunch wraps, waffle fries, subs... Almost everything on the menu. My new go-to is the Classic or the Picnic sub sandwich, because I love their deli "meats." I have also tried all their cookies, and my favorite is still the Funfetti...
