A local Nashville brewery that specializes in Belgian style beer. The evening that I visited, they were having a special event which involved pairing Girl Scout cookies with certain beers. Not for me, but it certainly brought in a crowd. The taproom is nice and looks much more inviting than it did when it first opened years ago. If I could give the taproom five stars all to itself, I would. The beer is good beer flavored beer. It deserves a 3.5 stars, but I can’t rate just the beer either. My low review score is due mainly to my customer service experience at this brewery. I have NEVER been to a brewery anywhere and received unfriendly service, but I guess there’s a first time for everything. I was greeted with a scowl and then received an eye roll when I asked about one of their new brews. No smiles, no friendly beer recommendations, not a ‘thank you’, not an inkling of good cheer. And I wasn’t the only one getting poor service. I watched this happen to everyone else that went up to the bar to order. Black Abbey folks - if you’re reading this, please do a better job of making your customers feel welcome. My other reason for the low score was due to the fact that the bar tenders were pre-pouring flights and pitchers of beer, which sat on the bar for long stretches of time. Pour my beer fresh, or don’t pour it at all. A pint of craft beer is too important and expensive to serve it...

This was our first trip to Nashville and we had a mixed experience at Black Abbey. First, we enjoy Belgian beers and the four offerings we had were absolutely outstanding. Some of the best Belgians we’ve had. The snacks we had were also fresh and a great compliment to the beer. I was surprised when I looked at my receipt 2 days later that they had added a 20% Covid surcharge. Nothing was said and I missed it. We go to many breweries and that was a first. It was made very clear to us when we arrived that they were very very serious about their Covid policies. No problem with that and we were happy to abide by their rules. But if you are used to enjoying breweries that are more open, this will not be the place for you. I would recommend staff tell customers that they will be getting a 20% surcharge to help cover their level of Covid...

This place looked so cool online, but let that be as far as you go! Although the atmosphere is somewhat unique inside it smelled really bad. The bartender on sat 21 of November she was really rude asked me to better fit my mask, if my mask was on any better it would at this point be a tissue. I love going to different breweries and trying everyone’s attempt at different styles of beer. We got a flight of 5 and although the brown ale was really good all the others tasted almost as good as the smell in the atmosphere. The only redeeming quality to this disappointing brewery was the pizza food truck outside! The issue here was the patio is completely open with no shade, so it was a toss up to sit under the sun and bake and eat, or go inside and hope the smell doesn’t ruin the finest quality product on the premise (the food truck...

Absolutely excellent!! Do yourself a favor and just go - they have a great variety of year round, seasonal and rotational beer flavors from IPA to Ale to Pilsner which are all mostly Belgian style. There is both inside and outside seating available. You can get 2 free samples for tasting but the flight samplers and take home growlers are reasonably priced considering the unique taste and quality of their offerings. This place seems to draw an outgoing and friendly crowd of people, each time I have visited, I've meet a new person whose conversation is interesting and polite. They also have a limited food menu and nice souvenirs like T-shirts and hats.

We visited The Black Abbey Brewing Company today for the first time and had such a great experience! We brought our pup with us and sat on their patio. The staff went above and beyond to help make us (and our pup!) comfortable. It was a little cold today so they lit the heaters outside and brought our dog a bowl of water. We ordered the pretzel and really enjoyed the pub ale! The staff members were super friendly and attentive. There was a great selection of beer on draft, and the building and patio were very clean. Thanks, Black Abbey Brewing Company, for making our first visit here such a great one. Looking forward to visiting here again soon!
