Visiting from Portland Oregon. This shop wasn’t on my list of shops to visit but was close by. The person I was visiting had good things to say. My expectation was iffy due to its placement in a strip mall next to some big chain shops. I was pleasantly surprised as I entered to see legit coffee gear (pour over devices, scales amount other things) and found that they are a roaster as well. Customer service was brief and and quality. Middle of the road in a good way, neither rude or exceptional (funny way to put it I suppose). My one disappointment which I won’t hold against my review. I was really looking forward to trying the Ecuador coffee (as I am a big fan), I was hoping for an iced Chemex (aka Japanese style iced coffee). They weren’t familiar enough with the process to prepare it which was a slight bummer and completely okay. The awkward part is when the felt they needed to explain and tried to flex their coffee knowledge on why they couldn’t make it... which would have been fine for an average customer. Truly not trying to toot my own horn but I have a solid amount of education and experience in the industry and familiar with preparation and consistency. So it was just a little funny and awkward, but not a moment where I needed...
Read moreI will caveat this post by saying up until today we've come here at least 3 times a week every single week. We mainly come because the coffee is good and we want to support local. The food isn't bad either but it isn't cheap for midmeal proportions.
I'm leaving three stars to be fair to the above. But I'm deducting 2 stars because of less than satisfactory customer service - we moved here from NYC so we know a thing or two about being treated like just another number at checkout, but to be completely honest, our NYC coffee shops were way more welcoming than this staff has ever been.
Every now and then I'll ask for my cold brew either light ice or no ice - and almost every time there's attitude from the guy for it. On top of that they make sure to let me know just how much ice I should've gotten. Today I've finally decided to document this.
The first picture is my cold brew this morning on the counter waiting for me to pick it up - legitimately half full.
Instead of accepting a half full cup like we usually do, we asked for more coffee to the less than willing barista. The second picture is what he came back with.
It's really more about the principle and how you treat people than anything for me....
