Wow, what a difference so far!

I have had a chronic dull neck pain from a car wreck several years ago. I had thought of trying acupuncture for awhile but never followed through.

It wasn’t until I injured the left side of my neck almost 2 months ago. The pain would start just behind my left ear lobe and shoot up to the left side of my head, causing intense headaches. I was hoping ice/heat and time would help it get better. After a few weeks of ibruorofen and minimal relief, I finally decided to see an acupuncturist.

I found Affinity Acupuncture on Google. They had good reviews so I made an email inquiry through their website on a Saturday I think. The inquiry asked me some questions about myself and what part of my body needed their help.

By Monday (2 days later), they fit me for a consult. What I liked instantly was there was no wait. I arrived on time and within minutes I was in a room and talking with Dr William Alexander. He asked me some follow up questions from my original inquiry, looked at and felt the area of my neck that was bothering me, and recommended a treatment plan of the next course of action.

He recommended 3/x week treatments for 4 weeks. I was concerned about price and the commitment of being out of work. He reiterated the treatment he had in mind was not to just help the pain. The goal was to eliminate it so I wouldn’t have to keep coming back. He mentioned he would be using traditional acupuncture and a combination of electricity. I didn’t know exactly what that meant at the time but he said each visit usually takes less than 30 minutes. I was tired of the pain, so I accepted this treatment plan.

WEEK 1 After 3 treatments, I did not notice much difference. I was still taking Motrin to help with pain but was encouraged I wasn’t needing as much of it. What I loved so far though was that I was in and out! Affinity Acupuncture is in a multi tenant building on the first floor. After you let receptionist know you are there, you are met right away and brought right into exam room. I was on my back and fully clothed with shoes off. Within minutes, Dr Alexander comes in explains what he was doing and inserted about 5-6 needles around my feet, ankles, and hands/fingers area. I didn’t look as he did this. Nothing hurt though. He dimmed the lights and said he would be back shortly. After about 15 minutes, he comes back in and takes the needles out and I was done. I paid my copay as I walked out the door snd I got texted a receipt for my records. You can the receipt emailed as well. I was back to work in less than hour. No side effects. No fuss, no muss.

WEEK 2 The treatment was more focused on my neck this week. I was on my stomach. Needles were inserted in the back part of my neck and top of my head. This week there was a TENS unit used as well in my back. Also, Dr Alexander used electricity on the area of my neck that was causing me the most pain. The electricity just felt like a tingle. Doctor does this manually and it’s only for like 30 seconds. He then dims lights like the 1st week. After about 15 minutes, he removes everything and I’m done. By end of 2nd week is when I really notice improvement. I still felt my left side of neck was injured (still felt tight) but was pleasantly surprised the pain was gone. After constant pain for 5 weeks, you feel like you have a new person when you don’t have pain and do not have to take any pain medication.

WEEK 3 This week is much if the same as week 2. I am currently at the end of 3 weeks of treatment. The pain on the left side of my neck is still gone.

Final thoughts: I am exceptionally pleased so far of the results at Affinity Acupuncture. I am thankful I finally did something about my neck pain and saw these guys. In April of 2024 I had been waking up with bad pain in my neck and i thought I just slept wrong and had a crick in my neck. This continued for months. I went to see a chiropractor and that made it worse. So I went to my doctor and he did an X-ray and then an MRI and saw that I have degenerative disk disease in all the facet joints in my neck. My doctor sent me to do physical therapy, that didn’t help, then to try some nerve blocks that didn’t help either. At this point the only thing left was surgery and I didn’t want that. The only thing I hadn’t tried was acupuncture. I got on the Internet and started looking for an acupuncture doctor close to where I work and I saw Dr. William, and his review were very high so I made an appointment. I was very nervous, but when Dr. William came into the room, he sat down in front of me and listened to what I had to say and then he told me what we were going to try and how long it may take to get better. He was so nice and friendly I felt like I had known him for years. After the first treatment, I had more movement in my neck than I’d had in months. It’s taken a few months to get better, but Dr. William has actually given me my life back. I’m Telling you I was doing nothing but sitting on my couch with a heat pad on my neck and could not do anything and I do a lot. I am very active. Dr William knows what he is doing and you can trust him. He he has been a Godsend to me and I can never thank him enough for giving me so much relief. I highly recommend William for acupuncture. I am 15 weeks pregnant now after 4 years of infertility and failed IVF cycles. My last failed IVF with donor eggs was in August/September 2015. After that try failed, I immediately started acupuncture for the first time ever to get me in top form in case we tried IVF again. I wish I had started acupuncture with William before I started infertility treatment in 2012, because it worked all on its own! I had premature ovarian failure (my AMH level was 0.06) and was told I had too low ovarian reserve to even try using my own eggs. I had all kinds of other infertility hormonal problems as well. Within 2 weeks of getting acupuncture twice a week with William, I felt a huge difference in my overall health. My headaches stopped immediately, my hormones seemed to even out, my chronic pain from an old back injury got better, acne went away. We continued treating aggressively with acupuncture and 8 weeks later, we got pregnant on our own with no medical intervention, the only thing we did different is acupuncture with William. He is very easy to talk to, and listened to my needs as a patient. He gave me options for treatment and respected the choice I made on which treatment to follow, never pressuring me to do any treatment I didn't want 100%. He is a very supportive practitioner and flexible. I will continue going to him through out my pregnancy, and so far I have had a very pleasant pregnancy, no morning sickness or anything like that, thanks to acupuncture treatments to help with pregnancy symptoms.
