3.5 stars here today. luckily located for us just a block from our hotel. We walked in just a bit under an hour before closing and were greeted with friendly smiling staff who didn’t seem put off by late arrivals as we have found in some places. And they were not out of anything either-which can be a good or bad thing at a BBQ joint. A funky, eclectic, décor throughout and plenty of seating. Order at the counter and your called when your meal is ready. Oak is the wood of choice for smoking the meats here.

Our meal choice today was to split a three-meat plate of turkey, brisket, and ribs with slaw and potato salad. One sauce is available in a bottle provided with your meal and kept warm, a nice touch. Our order was ready quickly and we jumped in. The ribs looked beautiful, moist and glistening. The turkey was sliced thin, similar to deli meat, which was very different than most BBQ spots we’ve ordered it. The brisket unfortunately looked a bit sad, grayish and crumbly. It was a victim I believe to the dreaded holding syndrome-how to keep the brisket at peak condition while having enough for the hours you are open. It was pretty easy to see the meats here on the cutting table taken off the pit and wrapped in plastic until ordered. This may work okay for some meats but IMO not with brisket. It was lacking in flavor and the texture was not to my liking with a no noticeable bark. The sauce added moisture but little flavor. Not one of the best on this night.

The turkey also had a very mild smoke flavor and the thin slicing was much better suited for placing between bread rather than served on a plate. It was very moist and worked well with the sauce. Almost tasted as if they took a precooked piece of deli turkey and placed it in the smoker for a period of time. Pretty sure that’s not the case but that is the impression I got from the product. The ribs were the star, tender, flavorful, and meaty. Great texture and smoked for just long enough. Tasted great on their own as the sauce, as stated before, is IMO pretty bland. Enjoyed these very much. Slaw was fresh and crispy but the potato salad stood out with it’s creamy, almost ranch-like dressing and the delicious dill forward taste. Loved this version. All in all, a pretty good meal with one distinct disappointment.

I mentioned the friendly staff. As we were finishing up our meal, now probably within 15 minutes of closing, a woman came in and ordered 10 BBQ sandwiches. Probably for some folks involved in the big Christmas movie premiere taking place in town tonight. They all handled it like it was not a big deal and easily took care of business. A credit to them and...

After meeting with a client to show property in Natchez, I had worked up an appetite! We drove downtown to the river banks of the Mississippi River to see what we could find to eat. Downtown Natchez is one of my favorite places, especially during Spring Pilgrimage. The "Pig Out Barbeque Restaurant" caught my eye immediately! I was hungry as a pig, so this was perfect. The entire restaurant is vintage with memorabilia from early days, old-time booths and unique tables to sit at to enjoy your meal. It is a walk up order and pick up tray to get your food. The menu is lots of barbeque items. I chose a half barbeque chicken with coleslaw and bake beans. The flavor was delicious! They also sell "Pork Skins" which seems to be a favorite. It is definitely a tourist spot, as I noticed someone come in with a nice camera to get some photos. If you are looking for a fun diner, I would stop at the "Pig Out Barbeque"! I will be...

I love this place!!! We were visiting Natchez in 2016 and ate lunch here. Since then I have become vegan though my husband has not, and I wanted to go back. Lucky for me they have black bean salad that is delicious and I went for their cole slaw too because it is the best I have ever had. My husband's beef brisket sandwich was excellent -once he discovered the sauce he'd missed- but even without it he said it was good. The crowd here both times we have been has been a mix of locals and tourists with people in business suits as well as informal clothing-families and couples and a few single people as well. You order at the counter and the wait is short even with a lot of customers and there is lots of seating. Don't miss their wall with What I Love about...

I stopped here for an early dinner en route to Jackson-- my 8th 'cue joint in Mississippi, and the 342nd on a journey now covering 35 states. $14.00 purchased a pulled pork sandwich with sides of mac 'n cheese and black bean and corn salad, as well as a large soda (coke products). The pork was well smoked, and had terrific bark-- a good bite that deserved something better than an ordinary, store-bought bun that was no longer fresh. The mac 'n cheese was very traditional in taste, but you really want to try the black bean and corn salad, which is as peppery good as it is rare on a BBQ menu. On the whole, therefore, Pig Out warrants a second visit, and I'm looking forward to sampling the ribs and sausage the next time I'm in the area.

We were passing thru Natchez (one of our favorite places) and went to Pig Out to get food to go to eat in our motel room. This is our 2nd time there. When you walk in, the smell is amazing!!! My husband can’t have buns, so he had brisket, coleslaw and Mac and cheese. I had pork, black bean and corn salad, and baked beans. The bbq sauce is very good also! Both meals were amazing! They give you such generous helpings of the meat!!! We were stuffed!! They were very good at checking for allergies for us which we appreciate so much! Just across a parking lot from The Grand Motel so very handy! Very friendly staff.
