As we pulled up to the Natchez Manor we noticed the block it was on was run down with vacant buildings and parking was simply street parking, which was very limited. We parked the next block over. Upon arrival no one was present to let us in the building. Another group of guests were outside waiting for someone to let them in. We called the manor number but no answer. So, we walked a few blocks away to eat an appetizer. We We called again, no answer. Walked back and finally, someone showed up. The first thing they told us was that the downstairs restaurant and rooftop bar were closed. The website touts a music filled rooftop terrace with champagne and a late night bar for cocktails downstairs. This was a complete fabrication. The restaurant/downstairs bar area was there but unused. Tables were dusty, no staff. These were two of reasons I booked the place. The room was ok, average at best, but strongly smelled of a plug in air freshener. The room was moderately clean, but the spider crawling up the wall did not make my wife feel welcome. The primary air conditioning unit was a mini split that did not work. Instead of fixing it they put a small standing AC unit in a corner vented through window. It helped a little, but mostly was very loud. The view from the window was of open trash bins and an abandoned building. The photo of our room, the Janessa Victoria, shown on the website shows and describes a light blue settee the foat of the bed, but that was not present, instead two very basic chairs. The bathroom was basic and single toilet paper roll was almost gone. After checking in, we walked to the river area and returned later that evening. We were given a key to the front door of our building and used it to enter. No staff present. Showers were brief (in the not full baths described) because water was not draining at the normal rate. The room was still warm but we finally got to sleep. Got up in morning to see about coffee and breakfast that was advertised. No staff was present, no coffee was available and no one was making breakfast. We instead put our keys on front desk (no staff) threw luggage in car and got coffee a block away at the wonderful Steampunk Roastery. We then walk to the Guest House BnB closer to river and ate a wonderful breakfast complete with mimosas in a beautiful courtyard. We enjoyed our stay in Natchez except for the Natchez Manor "Boutique" Bed and Breakfast. I suspect that at one time it was nice, and perhaps it is under new management. The website should be updated to reflect what is actually there. I have never stayed at a place before that was so flagrantly...
Read moreThe Natchez Manor is a lovely, historic B&B hotel located right in the heart of Downtown Natchez, only about five blocks from the Mississippi River, and you're able to get to most of downtown on foot. Most days I didn't even use my car. I'd recommend getting one of the two 2-room suites available, which are larger and look down directly onto Franklin St...it's worth the extra money.|Each morning you are served a hearty home-cooked Southern breakfast, which will fill you for most of the day, and the staff are friendly and helpful, but at the same time give you as much space as you need.|As an older building, the Natchez Manor has character, though it has all the modern amenities you'd expect. Also, as I was staying in Mississippi in August, I'm happy to say that the air conditioning was excellent throughout the building, and you can set it as you wish in your room.|I needed to do some work on my laptop while in town, and though the room did not have a work-desk (it has tables and multiple chairs for comfort), guests have access to the spacious roof area with a lot of tables and chairs, and also the basement, both of which are set up like a bar, providing a lot of space to work undisturbed. I used the rooftop daily and sometimes the basement, if I was working before sunrise.|Honestly, anyone who values a unique flavor and some historic character in where they stay would definitely prefer the Natchez Manor over a typical hotel. The bed was large and very comfortable--I brought my own pillows but I didn't really need them with the fluffy oversized pillows provided. The staff build up a personal relationship with you and I was provided anything I requested. There was also a huge ice machine on the upper level, the room had a refrigerator and a sink, and there was a Keurig coffee maker that was well maintained. The two room suite also had 2 TV's, although I only used one of them a few times as there is a lot to do in the greater Natchez area.|If you like a laid-back classic Southern feel and don't require everything to be super-modern, the Natchez Manor is like a home away from home. I stayed for a week in August 2024, while I was in the area, and really enjoyed it. I give the Natchez Manor my highest...
Read moreWe stayed two nights at Natchez Manor and I must say our favorite thing was interacting with the staff. Every single person we encountered there was exceptionally friendly, kind, and helpful. When we first arrived (not realizing there is no dedicated parking area) downtown was bustling and there were no available parking spaces. After circling the block several times we parked a block away and walked to the Manor to ask about the parking. A lady who was there eating lunch offered to move her car and let us park! Fortunately about that time a space opened up, and while my husband went to get our car, she and the front desk clerk stood with me in the parking spot so no one would take it before my husband got there! That was the beginning of the friendliness and hospitality we received the entire time we were there. Each morning we were treated to a full, DELICIOUS Southern breakfast by the chef. He was a kind, gentle-spirited man who really knows his way around the kitchen! We also enjoyed being able to walk everywhere while we were in Natchez. Our room was comfortable and clean, and we really enjoyed our stay at the...
