UPDATE TO RESTAURANT: the waitress was an older woman with short blonde hair. We ate here on the complimentary voucher from our stay in the B & B. I'm glad it was free. The restaurant seems to be on the same downward path as the B & B itself, but perhaps even more quickly. First, we were right behind another couple waiting to be seated. The dining room was full except for a table for 2 (being cleaned) and a table for 4. The man cleaning the 2-table motioned for the other couple to go to that one when he was done cleaning. Then he asked me how many (3), and he motioned for us to take the 4-top. He didn't give us menus or offer us coffee (mind you, for most B&B guests, the restaurant coffee was our first/only coffee of the morning since there are no makers in the rooms). There are about 10 tables (2 & 4 tops) in the whole restaurant, but the room is pretty small. I will give allowance for slow service when it's obvious the wait staff is doing their best and busy. But she never greeted us and walked directly past our table at least 10 times before I asked if we were supposed to get the menus ourselves (it was a legitimate question as the menus were visible on the little bar area). She impatiently replied no, I will get them, but you have other people ahead of you. So we sat and waited a few more minutes. I noticed that not only had the couple who sat down only seconds before us already gotten menus, they also had coffee. So when she passed us again, I said excuse me, but the couple over there came in right before us and they already have coffee and menus. Could I at least get some coffee while we wait, please? And I wish I had video of her reaction. She grabbed menus and literally tossed/shoved them at us. She pushed my son's under his arms he had folded on the table. You get nicer and faster service at Waffle House. The food is comparable, too. Our voucher was for 4 people but only 3 of us were in the restaurant. I asked her to honor the 4th person voucher and she hesitated but then said ok. One of the items we ordered was the breakfast sandwich on a brioche bun. I'm no expert, but I'm fairly certain it was just a hamburger bun brushed with "butter." I can't imagine people actually paying to eat here. The topping on the experience was the loud "ambience" music. It was instrumental versions of pop songs. Imagine hearing a violin rendition of Taylor Swift and Michael Jackson to...
Read moreI will preface this review by saying that the service and staff are wonderful. Our waitress was delightful and very much an asset to this business. However, the “Mediterranean” theme is bizarre, to say the least. Contrary to other reviews posted, this is not a restaurant with a “mix” of foods, it is predominantly Mediterranean with a painfully limited selection of anything else. I am not entirely sure if the theme is the owners attempt at bringing some sort of witty “exotic” fare to Natchez, but it is jarringly out-of-place with what one would like to see in a historic southern town. Being that there are so few places to dine in downtown Natchez, it’s a shame that this one would be so narrowly limited to foods that seem so entirely out-of-place with their surroundings. When we were there, there were only 2 other diners in the building, and I can see why. I’m sure the intent was to bring something “exotic” to the area, but it really leaves a LOT to be desired. If I had one piece of advice for the owners; it would be to drop half of the goofy foreign offerings and return to a more fitting menu for the area. In terms of food quality, the flavors were all a bit “off” and we would have liked to have seen at least a few more options that weren’t adulterated with middle-eastern flavor profiles. Unfortunately, we cannot imagine dining there again until the menu is either significantly enlarged to include more “normal” fare, or the theme is changed back to something more appropriate to the great town it serves. For the prices, the cheap, off-tasting, middle-eastern selection just...
Read moreWhen we booked our stay at the “Guest House” in Natchez... we had no idea it was going to be so incredible! Everyone went over and above to make us feel comfortable from the moment we walked Thru the doors to when it was time to reluctantly leave back for home.
Sean, the owner and Jay at the front desk made us feel as though we had known them forever!
We can’t wait to go back!
The complimentary breakfast was fresh, true southern cuisine.. with great attention to detail. And Henry ... well...let’s just say he brought so much vivacious life and joy to the restaurant you wanted to stay for yet another hot cup of morning coffee.. he made us feel grateful for all the things life brings...his laughter and grace lit up the restaurant as he served each table effortlessly with his million dollar smile and southern hospitality. Wow!
