I regret having to leave this very conflicted review, but looking at past reviews there seems to be a common trend here. GREAT food, HORRIBLE service. Let’s hit the good stuff first to be fair to the owner. She was a very personable lady who clearly is dedicated to her shop and displayed the typical southern hospitality with a neighboring table which honestly put a “glad to be in the south” smile on my face. The do-it-yourself coffee setup was fantastic and I’d highly recommend the blueberry cobbler coffee with some honey in there too. I got an omelette and was very pleased with it, my significant other saying much the same about her French toast! And I’ll be totally honest; that was the BEST biscuit I have EVER had (the second one was pretty great too haha). Overall the food was just fantastic. That’s what kept me from leaving a one star review. The service however was more than enough to inspire me writing this novel of a review. Our waitress was distant and uninvolved to the point that it was outright rude. After self-serving some delicious coffee we walked to the seating area wondering if the girl slouched against the wall looking like she’d rather be scrubbing the toilets than dealing with the likes of us was an employee or just hanging out. We took a window seating and within a few minutes two other tables were filled. These other tables were visited at least twice as often and were more readily waited on as the owner was chatting them up. Our waitress was distant and absolutely minimalistic in serving us. Overall she seems to be either untrained for service/hospitality or is totally uninterested in her job. Not to mention we sat there for ten minutes after having our tables cleared before she thought to come over and mention that we could pay up front at the register. MEANWHILE other tables had a check brought to their tables! We were nothing but polite so I really have no clue where the difference in service came from. I’m sorry to say that the miserable quality of service almost completely killed my enthusiasm about that...
Read moreWe got to the breakfast buffet late, so the potatoes were dried out. Kind of odd to have someone serving the food, because a buffet is usually when you just serve yourself. The only reason I can think of is that they wanted to conserve the food. Dunno. Anyway, it was ok, not spectacular, about what you might get from a standard hotel breakfast buffet. For example, the eggs seemed to have come from a carton, and the pancakes from a mix. It was filling and I was grateful to have the food, but the cost was way more that I would expect for that level of quality. The best part is that the servers are so gracious and attentive. That will make me come back!
UPDATE: The response to my review was not nice, using Karen as a derogatory term. A “Karen” is someone who calls the law or management about issues where such infractions don’t require it.
This is a place to state opinions, which is not quite the same as calling the law about a breakfast buffet. Other customers deserve to know before choosing where to eat. It was an honest review. I noted that we arrived late as the reason the food was dried out, and also noted that service was exemplary (with this exception).
Eggs out of a carton is not a crime, but “Buffet” is a strong descriptive to what was offered. Buffet usually means a variety of fruits, breads, and style of eggs. I’m not sure why there is a health problem with self-serve buffet there unless people are putting drugs in the food or spitting on it.
Natchez struggles to keep businesses alive, and you are not helping. I can see from other reviews that when people are unhappy, the response is smarmy and immature. It would be much more professional to say “thanks for the feedback.” Opinions are good for making improvements, so it would behoove you to listen. You may be the only restaurant in town serving a breakfast buffet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be closed...
Read moreAs someone who worked as a barista for years, I thought a place called coffee company could make a good latte. I'm always apprehensive to order hot lattes at new places because iced is generally safer (since there is no milk steaming involved). To say that my ears and brain and heart screamed when I heard the way the milk was steamed is an understatement. They desperately need proper training. Espresso made on an industry standard machine (which is what they have) needs to have approximately 18 grams of freshly ground espresso roast beans tamped with a 30lb pressure, they did none of these things (this is why your pucks came watery and loose). Milk should under no circumstances be steamed for any greater length of time than about 20 to 25 seconds, and even that is pushing it. Your hand should be resting on the steaming pitcher, and once you feel it is too hot to touch, that's when it is done, mine burned my mouth (that means it's too hot). You really should only break the surface of the milk right at the beginning, not all of the way through. The last 1/2 to 2/3 of the steaming process should be incorporating the air into smooth creamy milk foam perfect for lattes. I will, however, say the caramel and vanilla I requested to be in there could be tasted and were good in flavor, but that and poorly steamed over heated milk were about it.
PS the employees were fine. This isn't necessarily their fault. They were nice, just not overly talkative (which is totally fine), and probably needed better training before being on the espresso machine
PPS the clown emojis are childish. Constructive criticism is necessary for...
