I want to rate this place higher, I really do, but I really can't.
Price: I'm going to gripe, but I'll mention first that everything is more expensive, so it is what it is. But $10 for a Chicago dog seems a bit much.
Food: The choices were ok. Other than one particular selection, I'm not really seeing the Brazilian tie in the signage seems to advertise. Further, my Chicago dog was lukewarm. I didn't complain because at that point I just wanted to eat and go, but the hot dog otherwise was good, including the sport peppers and creepy green relish. My bacon cheddar fries were ok, though my son's were burnt in some spots, and the bacon such a fatty mess he didn't finish them. Minor gripe, this place has paper straws. I wish I had known, I just removed the drink lid to drink rather than using it, but I have a hatred of paper straws, mainly because sometimes my drink outlives the straw.
Speed: We ordered at the counter because I still like to advocate for hiring human beings when possible rather than programming. But the process was very, very slow. The loud music in the restaurant didn't help matters as things often needed to be repeated. I could see the order boards, and it didn't seem as busy as the time to get the order seemed to take, though maybe the fries were the confounding factor. Usually, if I think hotdogs, I think quick, in and out. Maybe offering chips instead could speed things along.
Atmosphere: The place was HOT. It's late spring, so buildings have trouble adjusting, but it was warm in there. Plus, it was loud. There's a foosball table for customer use which adds to the noise, but the music was far louder than the nearly empty room really required. Luckily there were tables set up outside, so we ate there instead.
Would I go back? Probably not. It was down to that or the Smashburger down the plaza, and we kind of regretted our choice. I'm from the Worcester area where we have Coney Island Hotdogs and Annie's Hot Dogs, and the service is always a LOT faster, and a fraction of the cost. Maybe they're cursed with a high rent where they are, but it's not helping. I love a good hotdog, but this wasn't it.
Overall, I wouldn't say stay away, but I wouldn't tell you to go there either. Be forewarned, maybe they'll take this review as the constructive criticism that I mean it as and work on the little...
Read moreVery overwhelming smell of cologne, like walking into an Abercrombie and Fitch. The cheeseburger looked good enough but was lacking in flavor, it's unclear how the patty was cooked, I saw staff heating up patties and dogs in the same instant cooker you see at Dunkin. The patty itself seemed to have a fishy odor/taste to it, so I'm not sure if there is some cross contamination going on with their salmon bowl through whatever means they use to "cook" the patty. There are better options for burgers nearby in my opinion (5- guys/smash burger/mooyah/buttons grill). I cannot speak to the other offerings on the menu though as I only had the cheeseburger.
Edit: I appreciate the response as it signifies an engaged and thoughtful owner so first off, thank you. I am not trying to be critical. I am trying to describe my experience and hopefully offer insight from a different point of view.
I will say the establishment was very clean and the staff was friendly and polite.
This is the first restaurant I've been in that has had a diffuser. It was not something I would expect in a restaurant, a home or a clothing store maybe. Personally though a major part of tasting food is the sense of smell. When there is a strong non-food smell competing with the smell of the food I'm eating it detracts from the taste.
I honestly could not explain the 'fishy' smell/taste it was faint but there was an off-taste to the burger that was not something a burger would normally taste like. My best guess was some sort of cross contamination from something else on the menu. This is a guess though not something I directly observed.
I can appreciate that it may be easier/faster to melt the cheese in the instant cookers but if it mixes with whatever other flavors are in there it will take away from the taste of the burger.
The cheeseburger was not on the kids menu and was not at a kids menu price. In my personal opinion plain and basic offerings on a menu are an indication of their more expensive offerings. When I try a place for the first time I do not immediately start with the most...
Read moreI would title this NOT WORTH THE MONEY! They make a dry mediocre burger. You get a decent amt of meat but neither of us enjoyed it bc it tasted dry and bland and not especially meaty, cheese added nothing whatsoever- not flavor, not fat, nothing; bun was ok. Pickle was ok. All in all just ok.
Fries were ok. Hotdog was tasty yes, but was it panini’d? No. SO NO crunch. But I will say it was a really good dog in itself. Cole slaw had literally ZERO flavor and yes we bought two of the sides of green sauce which turned out to be garlic in cheap mayo. No spice. No herbs. Nothing worth bothering with.
In the end we spent $70 for 2 burgers, 2 lg fries, a shake and a hotdog and a cpl of side green sauces and felt afterwards like we were had. We ended up not using the sauce bc it wasn’t spicy or flavorful enuf to dip fries in and had one untouched cheeseburger nobody wanted. Dollar wise this meal was worth maybe $50 incl tip in today’s money.
All in all, too much of a mixed bag. The burgers should have dripped flavor and juice. The hotdog should have had crunch and the shake should have been rich and creamy instead of just too sweet. Sorry Doogy but this was too expensive for such a mediocre and...
