To be fair to this place, we were not exactly prepared for this experience. When I bought tickets for my parents and I, none of us really knew how this place worked. And not to mention, I am a young adult, while my parents are both seniors, meaning I had to guide them when they weren't as familiar with any kinds of video games. So that's on us.
At the same time, we travelled an hour and a half away to get to Gamebox, and it has several problems. The walls are sensitive, sometimes not responding when you press hard enough, and sometimes activate when you don't even press it and just get your hand close enough. Some games don't offer enough time to figure out what you need to do. This was especially prevalent when we played James Bunny, and got confused at some of the mini games and how to move on. It's sometimes possible for the game to softlock, or in other words, still function and yet you are being held back from progressing against your will. This also happened with James Bunny, that we had to call a staff member to skip ahead, skip to the final boss and clear the game earlier than planned. The rooms where you play are rather cramped, or at least, were cramped with three or more people. Especially when more than one person has to be controlling the game at once.
Perhaps if we had a party more familiar with video games, and maybe a small enough party, we might have had a better time. But it was more trouble than...
Read moreImmersive Game Box in Natick is an absolute game-changer! I can't express enough how blown away I was by our experience. As a single mother of two, including a son with severe Autism and intellectual disability, finding inclusive and accommodating activities can be a challenge. But Brady, the GM at IGB Natick, went above and beyond to ensure that our visit was nothing short of extraordinary.
From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and understood. Brady not only allowed my son to be in the game box without playing but also recommended the perfect game, Angry Bird, which could be completed in just 30 minutes, ideal for my 11-year-old daughter and our tight schedule.
And let me tell you, Angry Bird exceeded all expectations! The level of engagement, excitement, and sheer fun we experienced was off the charts. The immersive environment had us moving around and laughing uncontrollably. Plus, the music added an extra layer of excitement, enhancing the overall atmosphere.
I also want to mention how impressed I was with the cleanliness of the lockers, which may seem like a small detail but truly speaks to the attention to detail and care taken by the staff.
In summary, Immersive Game Box is the perfect destination for family or friends looking for an unforgettable and inclusive gaming experience. I can't recommend it enough! Trust me, you won't be...
Read moreInteresting concept, however the practical application needs a lot of work.
Issues I have found: The funny hats they make you wear, do not fit on your head properly and fall off easily when you move around a lot. Movement tracking is still poor and needs a lot of work. Perhaps our room needs calibration. The game didn't regularly recognize when we placed our hands on the wall. The rooms are close together and we had trouble hearing our game over the noise of other games with loud participants. The game we played "Ghostbusters" had time limits for certain activities. We scored high but still needed more time to complete some tasks. The game should be more adaptive.
A bit pricey from what you get. I guess it's worth a try, but unless they fix these issues, the kids weren't interested in...
