I stayed at The Residence Inn Boston - Natick location last night 6/9/2023. I paid for my room online hours before I arrived. Arrival and check-in both went very smoothly. Roughly 2 minutes after I entered my room, my room phone started ringing. I did not answer because I had just arrived to the room and I did not think the call was for me. The phone kept ringing and on the 3rd call I answered. To my surprise, it was the front desk calling. A woman named Kimberly was repeatedly calling the room phone and then when I picked up she notified me that the rate I booked under was incorrect. She said I booked an "executive rate". She then stated she needs to charge my card more to go with the rate I "should have" paid, and "do you want to stay?" I replied "yes". Please note, I had already put my card on file at the front desk and paid and was given the keys and already inside of my room. She then spent a few minutes on the phone whispering and I asked her what she was doing and she replied "calculating your new rate. Do you want to stay?" I said yes again, which I am not sure why I had to tell her again I wanted to stay. Kimberly is unprofessional, she should have at least knocked on my room door if there was an issue because the discrepancy was their fault. Luckily for Kimberly, I answered the room phone on her 3rd cycle of calling and did not hop in the shower first. I have never booked a hotel online before and then had the rate change upon getting my keys. Kimberly did not even bother to knock on my door and notify me of such a drastic change in person, and upon check-out she decided to interrupt my conversation with another staff member. I do not recommend staying here due to prices unexpectedly changing last minute and the lack of consideration that goes along with it. Asking me if I wanted to stay not knowing my circumstance. If I knew the rate was subject to change $100+, I would have booked a different hotel originally instead of this one. I still do not understand why my rate was changed and due to circumstances I had to stay the night. I also took pictures and videos of the room upon check-out because a place that can change your rate after you already checked-in your room probably would charge you for damages after check out. I am keeping an eye out on my...
Read moreNot great for families. If you are travelling for business purposes, this place is probably fine. Clean rooms, friendly and generally helpful staff, on-site bar and restaurant, and breakfast included.
Unfortunately we were not here for business (in a professional sense) or pleasure, but because our family needed somewhere to stay while we waited for our replacement furnace to be installed. We picked this specific property due to it's location (not terribly inconvenient to get our kids to school or get ourselves to work.) As other reviewers have mentioned, it's a tight space for families of more than 2 or maybe 3. But our two children are young so we managed. FYI that there is no bathtub, just a shower stall, but that seems pretty standard in most newer hotels.
After our third night, the front desk called at 6:50am to report a complaint about "tiny footsteps". While I will be the first to admit when my children are being noisy, they were not being noisy at that time, were not running around, and were barely even walking. They had JUST woken up. The front desk woman confirmed that the complaint was for THAT morning (and not any time before), and that she walked by the room and said we weren't being excessively noisy. So then why call? What are we supposed to do to address the tiny footsteps? Not let our children walk? I'm all for constructive criticism, but not if there's nothing that can be done about it. Maybe our room was above an EXCEPTIONALLY light sleeper? Frankly, I have little sympathy for someone trying to sleep at 6:50am on a Wednesday morning in a hotel targeting business travelers. Maybe the soundproofing between floors is bad? Which might be the case given the elephant stomping around in the room above us every night until 1am (which we never called to report because we recognize that we live in a world with other people).
So I guess if you decide to stay here, bring earplugs and leave the kids at home. Oh, and try not to walk...
Read moreThe room layouts in this hotel are not suitable for families or fun weekend getaways. Living room was small and sitting area had little to no seating for a party of 3. it’s not as cozy as other residences inn hotels. A one bedroom king bed seemed very small and not spacious.
The hotel also sent security to our room very late at night due to a noise complaint- i should note that I was with my mom and aunt who are in their 70s so I can assure there was no raging party happening at the time. I think the problem is that these hotels are built with low quality materials or maybe they don’t have to adhere to certain building codes related to sound proof flooring. the people below us reported that they could hear us walking around the room with no shoes on. I think the front desk should have called our room first before sending security late at night. It spooked us and wasn’t handled appropriately.
The hotel was pretty clean but It’s a new hotel and all new hotels appear clean. our room had some areas that were clearly not wiped down and definitely not sanitized/disinfected. there was something gross on the picture in the bedroom.. it looked like someone picked their nose and flung it - I’m more annoyed that anyone would do this as a guest in a hotel - housekeeping isn’t an easy job - let’s not act like animals and have...
