Arrived at approximately 1:36 p.m., thinking I'd have a fair amount of time to eat before they close at 3pm. There was a person next to my table and on the other side of my table, a couple with two children that had just gotten their food. At about 2:06 p.m., the person next to my table had eaten and left, and the person with children sparked a conversation with a "dang, I think they forgot about bro.. they've taken long.." I acknowledged the comment and figured my food would be served soon. At about 2:16pm and after nearly standing up and walking out, I got my order, which consisted of a (L) Menudo and not how I requested it(fewest meat possible) and a glass bottle Coke drink. The drink was slightly cold, and my food was warm; obviously, I did not pay immediate attention, since I went straight for the garnishments, and by the time I prepped my plate with the garnishings (salsa, lime juice, onions) my food was just warm, a few spoonfuls into it and my food was already lukewarms and for those who can relate, the food becomes just a greasy soup. Absolutely no one ever came by my table for an update. I did try to finish my meal before it would become even colder. As soon as I was done, four servers almost one after another came by to ask "todo está bien..?" I agreed, I had eaten, and after 4 people asking the same question and my tqble being refilled with the condiments (napkins, sugar packets, etc) and near closing time I got the feeling they needed me to leave. I proceeded to pay, and the cashier just confirmed my table number and gave me the total. I don't like expressing myself when I'm asked about the service and I had a not too good service, but I knew if asked, I had to be honest at the least for the food and drink temperature.. but I wasn't even asked once upon paying for my check. By the way, the business description says housemade tortillas, but they're not housemade; they're factory made, MX tortilleria style but nonetheless. Also, no more chips and salsa upon arriving and being seated at your. As far as the ONE STAR rating, it's because there were too many employees all occupied about just delivering food while trying to get a head start on their closing duties. At least one person, maybe the manager, could've acted as the person observing and ensuring customers are properly taken care of. Honestly, there are other restaurants where at least the food will be served hot, and their employees will make an effort to provide a good service. Again the a ONE STAR may seem harsh but I think it's needed for them to hopefully take it as reality-check that customers are who in return, puts food on their tables and are not to be takem for granted because soon or later just as I strongly consider, will be taking their business somewhere else. I am not saying I won't be back, but definitely, it will be a long, long time before I come back to Menuderia Don Vicente again. At least for me, there's been a couple of places that after such a long period of time I come to realize I just never went back, and that business has been substituted by a...
Read moreI drove all the way from el cajon to come here must of drove pass 1000 other restaurants to come here and have there menudo. I order 2 birria tacos and a menudo. The menudo is OK it could use some more flavor it's pretty light on flavor. What got to me was that when I order the tacos they automatically made the tortilla wet style. I didn't ask for wet style so I brought to the servers attention that my grandson didn't like the tortilla wet and she proceeded to inform me that there's nothing she can do and that I would have to order another taco with out the tortilla wet . I mention to her that I believe that it was her responsibility as a server to ask me how I want my tortilla prepare being that as a customer we don't always know that there is more then one way to order your tortilla she argued and disagreed and gave me attitude. I told her to just give another taco with regular tortilla and that it would be a good idea to mention to customers about the tortilla preparation so this would happen again she gave me more attitude and She stopped serving me after that conversation and abandoned my table and complete ignore me the rest of my visit there. After 20 min of no more coffee or service or more tortillas etc I asked another waitres if she can continue to serve us while I was there because apparently the waitres had got upset that I said something about her way of...
Read moreWAS. I was looking forward to an authentic Mexican breakfast. I was polite, calm, and open to a positive experience. I was SORELY DISAPPOINTED.
The woman at the front looked directly at my very distinctly Asian-featured face and spoke only Spanish to me. The customer waiting to be seated translated for me, but she understood all of my English after that. She assumed that I ordered takeout and didn’t offer me a menu. I pointed out that I wanted to order takeout, so then she just took out her order pad and asked what I wanted. I hit bottom when I had to ask for a menu and look at her walled expression even though it was obvious that she did not want to serve me.
The food looks delicious. I’m sorry that I had to give this restaurant a half-review, but it’s better than having a fully bad one. I suggest that the woman at the front humble herself and lose her personal prejudices- whatever they were. I actually give really great reviews that get a lot of hits. I’m willing to give this restaurant another try, but I don’t even live in the city so it’s gonna be quite some time until I do. Perhaps that’s enough time for her to wake up and be a better human… or for the owner of this restaurant to have a serious talk with her for...
