Finally, an excellent pastane (Turkish bakery) has opened in the Valley. It's like visting Turkey with a detour to Cairo. Here one can find savory and sweet pastries that are hard to find outside of Turkey. And while a few can be found in restaurants, they're not as good as those made in this establishment. That being said, I recommend the lahmacun (pronounced "la-mah-joon"). The best way to describe it is a soft and foldable pizza crust, with a spread of ground beef taco filling. Please squeeze the provided lemon on top and roll the bread up to eat it. You should also try the Egyptian meat pie/bread. This hearty pie has a savory herbal-beef flavor, rather than a spicy taste. As far as dessets go, the baklava is the best in the Valley-buttery, flakey, and moist. However, I will have to try the kazandibi next time to give a verdict on it. It's a custard that tastes similar to creme brulee, but with a stronger, but pleasantly scorched caramelization on top.
Coming from an American that loves Turkish food, I say, please give this bakery a visit. The owners are kind and helpful if you have...
Read moreWe stopped in from a trip home from NY State to NJ. We’re so happy we did! The owner is super nice, kind, and personable. The food is delicious! We shared the Egyptian Meat Pie (which had juicy, delicious flavors and a soft, chewy, buttery crust), an everything bagel (which is a little different than the standard ones seen everywhere else), fresh hummus (which was delicately seasoned and creamy), and mouthwateringly delicious baklava. It was a beautiful day in late Sept. so we ate outside at one of their tables. Dinner will be of leftovers, and I already can’t wait! If everyone would give this place a try, they’d be so happy! I only wish we lived much closer than 1 1/2 hours away. I’d give almost all the other food items each a try. (There seemed many more options than shown on the website.) The people nearby are very...
Read moreAbsolutely loved our experience here! We tried a great variety of dishes and everything was incredibly flavorful and freshly made.
The Meat Lovers Pida and Cheese Lover Pida were both delicious—perfectly baked with generous toppings. The Lahmacun had that authentic, savory spice that really hit the spot. The Philly Cheese Steak and Sausage, Egg & Cheese Sandwich were also amazing—great portions and super satisfying.
We couldn’t leave without grabbing some desserts to go, and we’re so glad we did. The Kazandibi was silky and rich, and the cake slices were moist and just the right amount of sweet.
Everything was halal, freshly prepared, and served with a smile. Highly recommend for anyone craving high-quality Turkish or Mediterranean fare. Will definitely be...
