Let me just start off by saying if I was able to give Jameson's Southern Cooking more then 5 stars I would! I was at my job and my partner and I decided we wanted to try this place after hearing everyone else at work rave about it!
Upon entering the restaurant you are immediately greeted with the overwhelming, intoxicatingly delicious smell of freshly cooked southern food! The restaurant itself is a nice small place with a few tables to sit down and eat.
The owner walked us through the menu and even showed us a few specials for the day. I decided to get a combo meal of chicken and ribs. Each meal on the menu comes with homemade corn bread and 2 sides. I initially wanted chili over rice as a side but it was still being cooked, so I opted for the Baked macaroni and cheese and the mashed potatoes with gravy.
The owner explained to us that nothing is precooked and our order would take about 20 minutes. The owner was kind enough to give us a bottle of water as we waited. Our food came out in a very reasonable amount of time for home made cooking.
When I opened my take out container (see picture below) I was met with that same delicious overwhelming smell! I started by biting into the piece of fried chicken. When I say this is the best fried chicken i have ever had I mean it! The first bite sent you into food and flavor paradise! The chicken skin was perfectly crunchy and the chicken itself was unbelievably juicy! Each bite got better as i went on. I then focused on the ribs which were wrapped neatly in tinfoil. The ribs were cooked to absolute perfection and were practically falling off the bone! Each rib was generously sauced with homemade barbeque sauce! I then turned my attention to the sides I had ordered! The mashed potatoes and gravy were absolutely perfect! The baked macaroni and cheese was even better!
This place is a hidden gem that many people pass by everyday in there travels not realizing what delicious food awaits them inside! The owner was extremely respectful and humble! If you haven't been here yet I strongly recommend that you check it out you will not be disappointed by the end of the meal I was already researching what I wanted to get for my next visit as I had already decided half way through I would be a...
Read moreFirst off me and my daughter went here for lunch. The owner n staff was very nice he gave us a free bottle of water and started telling us how he has been here cooking for over twenty years and he ran out the door. I knew then it wasn't gonna be a good experience but hey I like supporting my ppl so OK. I had fried whiting it was delicious I must say and Mac n cheese (Awful) dried out look like he made it last week and decided to give it to us and knew this was our first time at his restaurant. The potato salad that was OK too much mustard . My daughter had cabbage taste like water, her chicken well it had flies on it and they started flying around our food the entire time so we had to keep getting up and telling the waitress what was going on. Her response is I'll let him no. Girl bye where is all these flies coming from in November??? I can't. While I'm returning my food cause there where just too many flies around our food I actually vomited and all she kept saying is I won't charge you for potato salad and I'll let Mr J know about this smh. His nasty ass knew about the flies that's why he hurried out the door. This was my first n last time here. I cannot imagine how the kitchen part looked inside cause it's not visible probably something dead around that's why the flies are there (it was cold today). I'm reporting this place to the Board of Health and I suggest you don't eat here.!! This place don't...
Read moreIf you go here it is easy to see why they've been in business so long. I tried catfish, pork sandwich, and ribs. I also tried Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, and sweet potatoes as sides. I had sweet potato pie also. They brand their own drinks.
You're not going to get better catfish this side of the USA, that's for sure. I'm comparing to the set standard for catfish in states like Arkansas and the like, and this catfish was amazing. Light delicious fry, good seasoning, and finally a fantastic comfort food go-to I found. The ribs had great sauce (also proprietary) and were cooked well. I have no criticism for this place. I think you'll like it and I'm going to be going back so I can try the chicken, which everyone says is The Thing To Try.
This is our new staple for when we want southern food. Also the owner is present and active in the business and very nice to talk to. Friendly gentleman, a lot of pride in...
