My husband took me out for my Birthday, with the idea of going to a Mexican restaurant we have enjoyed before. Upon arrival, we learned that it was not open for business during that day of the week, so we had to find an alternative close to the area. A security guard suggested, Don Vito's, to us. I love Italian food, and so we decided to try it out. We both have past restaurant management and serving experience, so we notice everything. I don't consider myself picky, but more of the opinion that excellence should only be standard. Being said, we were greeted formally, though also with a personable manager, who set the tone comfortably. Once the table was ready (the end to our wait was practically immediate), we were brought to an intimate setting for booth seating. We were greeted promptly for beverages, and our server was introduced afterwards. He knew the menu well, offered insights as hoped, and his timing of delivery was deliberate and exact; literally, he turned his vocational skill of serving tables into an art in which I witnessed and took delight while experiencing! I was thoroughly impressed to such a memorable extent that I have verbally recommended Don Vito's to several people just in passing! The food was cooked to perfection, the menu was sizeable, yet not overwhelming, and the selections varied from staple favorites to dishes you do not find on most menus, but are met with excitement once found. It has been a while that we've been to a restaurant which not only met, but greatly exceeded our expectations. This Italian enigma has done so with flawless elegance. Everything was delicious far beyond the definition. We anticipated the bill to be justifiably higher in cost, obviously for the caliber of quality and service offered. My husband actually asked our waiter if everything was accurately entered on our bill, due to how surprisingly moderate the total came as (and I'm the extreme opposite to that of a cheap date). He confirmed the bill as correct, and - boom - just when we wondered how it could have gotten any better than that, it did! In a nutshell, hands down, the BEST Italian restaurant I've been to in Nevada. Don Vito's is incapable of disappointment. Top notch evening, and we will absolutely return, and already have made plans to do so! Thank you for helping make my Birthday evening a...
Read moreI know accidents happen and I certainly don't blame the server but the way it was handled by the manager and security was bad. It started with the server carrying a tray of drinks behind my friends seat, a glass of red wine fell off and landed on her head. The glass broke and the wine ended up all over her head, down her back and side and all over her pants (white pants) and my white pants as well. Needless to say, we had to go change clothes, she had to shower. Before we were allowed to leave we were told we needed to fill out an incident report, no problem. So we waited at the front door for security to come with the reports, about 15 minutes. Then he has to go get another because he only brought one and there were 2 people involved. Then he forgot the camera so he could take pictures of the damaged clothes so he had to go get that. By this time it had been about half an hour, my friend was freezing due to being soaked in wine. The security guy then says he needs to make copies of our ID's so he has to leave again to do that. By this time we are coming up on 45 minutes, our party had been moved to another table and were still waiting on us. We went and changed, came back down and ordered our meals. My friend had soup and salad and I had fettuccine Alfredo. Our meals were comped but my friends drink and my drink ended up on my husband's bill along with the appitizers the table had ordered while they were waiting on us to return to the table which would not have even been ordered if they hadn't had to wait almost an hour and a half for us to fill out reports, give IDs, have photos taken and change our clothes. When my friend brought this to the manages attention, he said "that's all I'm going to do." I think he needs some customer service training. Side note: we were told to call Risk Management in 5 days to check the status of our report. I've left 2 messages and so far have not heard...
Read moreI am disappointed in the restaurant manager's response to an accident by the server. The server accidentally dropped a glass of red wine on my head. The glass broke on my head and spilled down my entire body onto my white pants, and also splattered onto my friends white pants. (not a good day to wear white ;)) I am not upset over the incident at all - accidents happen. The server felt really bad and we all thought it was comical. My friend and I had to go to our rooms and shower and change because my hair was soaked in wine and obviously my clothes too. It took awhile to fill out the required forms, change, and return to dining. My friends waited patiently. When the bill came, the restaurant manager only deducted my meal (a soup and salad) and the other guest with the splatter. The other 3 guests did not have any discount even though they had to move tables due to the glass and wine, plus had to wait an exorbitant amount of time for the paperwork and such. I asked the manager nicely to reduce their meal but he replied he felt a duty to reduce my and my friends meal due to the spill directly on us but not anything for the others. I will note here that our meal was not extravagant - like I said, I had a soup, salad, and tea. My friends ordered an appetizer while they waited for us . No-one ordered dessert. I am deeply disappointed in the restaurant managers response of not reducing the others meals. Additional note.... it was my birthday!!! What a...
