My cousin, his wife, my wife and I went to Salute to have an Italian dinner and relax. The menu appeared complete with a wide variety of dishes. I chose an Italian standard, Veal Marsala w/mushrooms and garlic. I also added a side of Sauteed Spinach w/ garlic and shallots. I guess you could use the plural of mushroom after all there were at least 3 pieces of mushroom with the dry overcooked veal sitting in a tasteless brown sauce. The Spinach wasn't any better charred garlic and perhaps the shallots named in the menu. I requested salt to provide a hint of seasoning for my Marsala. Simply, the WORST Veal Marsala of my life. I must compliment the waiter for the wine selection he suggested and his care in attempting to get our dishes prepared properly. He made an effort to find out exactly how spicey my cousins wife would like her Lobster Fra Diavolo and the type of pasta my cousin would like to have with his Veal Parmigiana. The answer for the spiceyness of the Lobster Fra Diavolo was a 10, saying she likes her food very spicey. While my cousin ordered angel hair pasta with his entree. My wife ordered the Sea Bass and requested pepper and salt finding a totally unseasoned fish. She also ordered a Caprese Salad which was larger than she could eat so she offered a bite to me. I was surprised to find no Basil only arugula. I may be wrong but I have always thought a Caprese Salad was a simple Italian salad of tomato, basil, olive oil, mozzarella with balsamic vinegar. Back to my cousins wife's dish the Lobster Fra Diavolo the menu calls for fettuccine but she was served spaghetti that had no more moisture than I would use to keep my pasta from sticking together. The sauce was MILD and not the number 10 reserved for spice lovers. My cousin was the only one who thought his food was OK. However when he got to his pasta he noticed he had spaghetti and not angel hair pasta he had ordered. While the service was good;I felt sorry for the waiter working in a restaurant where the food was so lacking in quality. We won't be back and I have already advised my friends...
Read moreWe went to Salute with our friends to celebrate a birthday and went early enough to beat the crowds. We had a reservation and were actually seated promptly. Our waitress while nice seems to have too many tables to keep up. Not her fault but the management should have made better staffing plans. We ordered wine and drinks that took quite a while to come. We ordered 2 types of salads, Caesar and Chopped. Caesar OK Chopped good recommend the meat in it for the extra charge. I ordered a Silver Oak Cab which is grossly overpriced but i know what i was getting into and it was good. Now that is as far as it goes. Every entree was awful. One lobster pasta dish had bad/old lobster which made the guy sick the next day. The ladies had a chicken pasta dish that they almost couldn't eat. My veal chop was nothing but gristle and fat with no taste. For all the dishes we needed to have salt and pepper to get any flavor at all. I have placed a call into the General Manager to let him know about our experience but he has not returned my call. I assume that is symptomatic of the problems with this place. It is too bad because a good Italian restaurant is needed in Summerlin. I would never go back and not hearing from the GM is...
Read moreWent to salute with my wife to celebrate our anniversary we have heard great things! We brought our son and he just loved it. They had a special menu for the "Bambino's", kids . The dining room was comfortable we got a booth. There were interesting specials. The server was professional and very kind to my boy like he was a grown up, I think her name was gigi she was Italian! He ordered the spaghetti and meatballs for himself while my wife and i feasted on cheese and cured meats paired with delicious and affordable wines. She informed us that they are doing a promotion that on Thursdays they have 1/2 priced wines. My wife heard about the truffle ravioli and added shimp and had the veal piccata and they let me add house made pasta. It was perfect! For dessert we had the afo, affogato I think. It's a Italian tradition I guess. It has lemoncello liquor and house made sorbet then they drizzle espresso on top! Delicious and they even brought out a big scoop of vanilla ice cream for my son and put a candle in it for our celebration ! All in all it was a wonderful experience ! Even the GM Peter stopped by the table to see how we were doing. Very kind...
