1st review was positive because everything was good....this review NOT GOOD. I called Verdi to insure they were open & wanted my order fresh which is what I spike to Mike about. I asked Mike several questions that he was nice to answer. I asked Mike if I needed to go online to place my order & he said he'd place my order after 3pm since he wasn't quite open at 2:30pm & delivery person not there until 3pm. I asked Mike if I needed to place my order online & he said NO I'll place your order @ 3pm. I placed my order with Mike. @ 4pm I called to find out how much longer on my order to be DELIVERED. The person answering phone said it will be soon. I asked to speak to Mike to complain about how rude this person was & the person asked me why I needed to speak to Mike. I told this person that I needed to speak to Mike. Person relieving Mike said Mike not there. Few minutes later delivery driver called to get directions to my apt. My delivery got here @ 1:26 for 3 chicken alfredos, 4pk Pepsi & onion rings. Once driver got here I looked at my receipt & there was a $6 fee for delivery. Any orders over $35 is free delivery according to website. I asked delivery driver why xtra $6 & he said because my order was not done online. I told driver that Mike @ 2:30pm never said anything about xtra $6 fee because Mike placed my order..i gave driver $5 tip & he gave it back to me saying he'd get my receipt corrected & Verdi would give him his tip because nothing mentioned about xtra $6 fee by Mike. Once I put food away I called Verdis to discus attitude of staff & xtra fee on my receipt. The same rude person answered phone. I asked to speak to Mike. The person asked why I wanted to speak to Mike.... I said #1 I needed to complain about how rude he was the 2 times I spoke to him & I wanted to talk to Mike about xtra $6 fee. The person answering phone told me to GET A F---ING LIFE. I hung up on this rude person..i have enjoyed my food from Verdis but I will not order again to support this small business because of RUDE employee that does not have good customer service skills & does not speak to customers in a nice friendly manner. Covid amongst us & I wanted to support Verdis. Other small businesses deserve my business not anyone rude when a customer complains about his...
Read moreI used to frequent this place for a couple years, about 8-10 years ago, when I worked in Chinatown. Back then it was called Cafe Verdi. The food was about the same, so was the service. I remember enjoying it more back then but I was sad to see that the service hasn't improved that much, and by that I mean that even when dining in, we weren't offered anything to drink. They had sodas and bottled water for sale but I was already low on cash and paid $2 to get my son a can of soda, and yes, I said a can. I, myself, would have been content with a cup of water but there was no such option that I could see available anywhere. The worst part, which is the part that I wish they had improved on since I used to come a decade ago, is that they are so unbelievably cheap on the paper plates they give to diners and they only give you one. My plate was breaking apart with multiple holes in it from just the first slice of pizza alone. I mean, I still like this place, especially for the nostalgia. But as a customer, I think it's past time that they stepped their game up. I don't know what the reason was for the name change, but I hope it wasn't service-related. The food seemed more-or-less the same so it didn't seem like they changed management, although I'm glad they don't have employees openly picking toppings off of customers' pizzas and eating them right off the pizza in front of other customers which was a gripe I had about them 10 years ago. Then again, I only went back this one time so far so for all I know that could still be happening.
All in all, I think if this business appreciates their customers, which I'm sure they do, they should show it more. In my opinion, it would be worth it for them to spend a little more time/effort/money on customer satisfaction (i.e. offer a cup of water and at least double up on those garbage plates, and maybe mention that if the customer needs more of anything such as: water, napkins, utensil, plates, etc, then more are available upon request. I would have appreciated that much at least.) because that goes a long way towards customer retention which is the ultimate goal if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, that's my rant about my most recent experience at this place....
Read moreJust got home to enjoy my food after a long day and wouldn't you know it's not what I ordered. I should have known better when we walked in and he was apologizing for messing up an order to somebody else on the phone, gave the man $1.40 back for the issue and when he hanged up he called them an effing idiot in front of my girlfriend and I. We just laughed it off and ordered the fettuccine alfredo and penne primavera. We waited and we go home to find chicken in my pasta. We call to complain. He remembers us because I explicitly asked if the Primavera was also vegetarian and he clarified it was but then says "Oooh I thought you just meant the Primavera because you ordered the chicken alfredo." No I didnt. Chicken is not something I've ordered in years and I didn't start tonight. My girlfriend as my witness I looked and read fettuccine aflredo off the menu to him. With an attitude he asked me what I want to do about it so I told him I think it's fair for the inconvenience I should get part of my check back for the travel and my food remade to what I asked for in the first place. He said he's not the manager and doesn't have the power to do that. So here I am letting you all know when they make a mistake, you're paying for it. Try somewhere else. This local won't be...
