Set up is too long. Graphics are basic. Gameplay options are minimal. Staff was good and location was clean.
I own my own VR set, and I’ve been to “the void” virtual experience at the Palazzo. So I have a great deal experience in a high bar when it comes to VR experience. If I hadn’t had that experience, I probably would’ve been giving a 4 to 5 star rating. My first shock was when I asked how long the experience was and I was told 45 minutes where 25 of those minutes will be dedicated to sitting up and getting in the right location. Put it on all the sensors was tiresome even with the staff being so pleasant. I have been to other VR experiences where I didn’t have to put on hand sensors or foot sensors, and everything went on quickly and efficiently, and had more of a Kevlar vest. Kind of feel across my chest. Not to mention the headphones and visual gear or all in one. The gun model that they presented us was pretty cool, and did function well. Although I’d have to imagine that some people may have difficulty lifting the object throughout the entire event. After finally entering the virtual world, I found the graphics to be passable but not amazing. I I didn’t have full finger control the movement like a little boxy.
The zombies were slow. There was only three types, and they basically just walked into my chainsaw if I just left it out there. I don’t know if there was an actual chance for us to failed mission but the steaks seems incredibly small. There were some cool transitions from one level to the other, however, each set piece didn’t really call for unique strategies. My friend and I just stood back to back 95% of the time. what I really was looking forward to was having a large area to roam around and instead I was put in what felt like a 15 x 15’ space that had minimal corridor and gameplay options. I wanted to have a situation where my partner would have to be on one side of the room, and I would have to be on the other side of the room doing an activity and shooting from a specific location. Then one of us would have to run to the other person side to finish the puzzle. Or for us to have options to go to a roof to grab a Tourette or to go downstairs in the basement and sent mine’s or something more than just shoot shoot shoot shoot. Open sandbox game play plies that you have an unlimited amount of options. Yes, it was fun to play with a friend and have a high score at the end but really I would just recommend buying the oculus creating a space and...
Read moreThis VR experience is located on the second floor of Area15. We originally booked the Tikal experience. We were called the day of the experience explaining it was a 4 person minimum (we were only 2) and asked if we would like a refund or moved to a different experience. We really wanted to do this one so settled on joining a group the next day at 9:45 pm. We arrived to find out the group we were being added to had an extra person so we were over the person limit. Douglas offered another experience that would accommodate 2 person with the difference refunded. Expressed our disappointment explaining since we have been to Tikal IRL we were looking forward to the experience. We totally understood and were willing to switch experiences. Douglas took the extra time to speak with the Manager Stephanie to see what could be done. Stephanie and Nick of the staff JOINED us in our experience and we had an awesome time! I think they were having as much fun as we were! It caused them to stay later than closing - honestly the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me! THANK YOU Douglas, Stephanie and Nick for taking the time to insure we had a great time! We have done VR in other cities and this was top notch and very immersive and the free roam aspect was so much fun! Worth every penny! Special thanks to Stephanie who responded to my uneasiness about heights and was a great guide! We will definitely return to do other experiences when we are...
Read moreWe were there last night, Dec. 28, 2023 around 8pm and we booked The Lost City. The game itself was pretty good but felt short. The website says its 20-30 mins and it felt like it was less than 20 mins. The game consisted of getting in an elevator, going to the top of a building, watching a cool explosion and then getting back in the elevator down to the subway station all while shooting at hordes of zombies. The haptics on the gun is cool. Some people in our group with smaller heads had a hard time getting the headset to not be blurry and one persons hand sensor was dead before we even started. We were told that by the end of the day the sensors start running out of batteries and "that's just how it is". They didn't offer to switch to a different suit that was fully powered up. In the final shoot out during the game, my headset started freaking out and everything was glitching to the point that I couldn't see or shoot as everything was shaking/jumping around and flickering on/off. I was later told that my backpack battery was dying. Also, by the end, at least one additional person in our party had a dead hand sensor. Overall I feel like for the price you pay, you shouldn't have to worry about the equipment dying during your game because it hasn't been properly charged up. However, I might try this place again though since there...
