Kyler Seafood is an unexpected gem, located soon after taking the Washburn Street exit in New Bedford, Mass..As soon as one walks into the building, it is clean , with marine life & products well displayed, not visually 'busy', more of a welcoming atmosphere . I have visited 2x. With each visit to Kyler Seafood, the staff is courteous, & knowledgeable. They have 'blackboard' specials for many days of the week. At the cashier counter, take out/eat in menus are available . With each visit, I opted for the calamari & each time was consistently delicious. The batter is delicate & service is very good . As I opted to eat al fresco, the staff member brought it out to me. Today, being Thursday, the 'sided ' were 1/2 priced & that, in itself, was good to see . My companion & myself opted for 2 orders of calamari & french fries. Do note, I believe the fries are hand cut, not the 'industrial' type of fries, which shows good quality. Kyler Seafood has a sushi/California roll section, displayed on ice as well. There are beverages available for sale. The outdoor area for al fresco dining is a delight of an area, as well. The view is of the water , the fishing vessels, rustic, beautiful nature. The prices @ Kyler Seafood are reasonable, as one pays for quality. When it comes to seafood, quality is key. Thank you to cashier 'Diane', lovely lady with the Maine lobster pendant . Thank you to Eric, as his customer service on the telephone is professional, knowledgeable & courteous. Kyler Seafood is highly recommended , for those desiring top quality fresh seafood @ reasonable prices, whether to eat there, take out, or cook @ home, with a professional , courteous & knowledgeable staff....
Read moreThe deck at Kyler's is a great place to hang out with friends and eat fresh seafood. The deck overlooks the harbor and Acushnet River. Their fishing boats dock there and bring in the day's fresh catch.
We are blessed with some of the best and freshest seafood in the Northeast. The fish that's served here is about as fresh and tasty as you can get without catching it yourself.
Prices are reasonable and I believe you can order just about anything sold in the fish market. Service was good and attentive. We didn't have to wait long for the server to ask us if she could accommodate us with any reasonable requests.
Be sure to leave a cash gratuity in the box as you are exiting. It's just past the register on the right.
I had a large fish and chips. What I got was 3 huge pieces of white fish (probably haddock or cod) deep fried in what looked like a beer batter, English style. The fries were fried separate from the fish (no fishy or oily taste at all). They were the best fries I've had in years, browned perfectly with a deep hue and served up hot. They had no off flavors of stale oil or being fried and too low a temperature.
I know that's a lot to say about fish and chips but damn it was good! Close...
Read moreWhile checking out some purchases at the Acushnet River Antiques Mall, I asked the manager if Kyler's was "open to the public," thinking it might just be wholesale. "Yes, and the best fish ever." My first time in the place and WOW WOW WOW! You know when fish is fresh when the flesh is glossy, moist and has no odor. The swordfish steak selection was remarkable and I scooped up two good sized steaks - one we grilled when I got home tonight and OMG! Just the best, ever. Literally melts in the mouth! I also bought some beautiful scrod, the large "medallions" and super fresh - I'll batter fry those! The gentleman behind the counter had a big smile enthusiastic and helpful, check out a breeze, they do have frozen ice packs I bought two and all my fish "goodies" were cool and fresh when I got home! They have EVERYTHING SEAFOOD plus tartar sauce, and the kitchen serves fish and chips and more! What a GREAT PLACE in New...
