China Garden — Restaurant in New Bern

Not happy at all I got a to-go plate for lunch they gave me a to-go plate that is half the size of a normal one no dividers in it my egg roll is now soggy and she gave me a soup cup with the tiny to go plate I didn't ask for the cup normally at any other chinese place they give you a regular size take-out plate and if you want a cup for soup you ask I don't like egg drop so I put dumplings in my cup container and got charged an extra $3.00 plus the $7 for my tiny to go plate $10.00 for a lunch plate for the little bit I got is ridiculous!!! I wouldnt mind paying $10.00 If I didn't have to put food on top of other food cause of the tiny plate and have soggy mixed food I will never go to China Garden again and I really didn't like the people's attitudes who want food put on top of other food extremely...

Have been going here every so often since I was a kid, and so I am definitely writing a biased review. I really love the food here and even when going on off times, when the food wasn't fresh, the food was still good. In my opinion, if I can still enjoy the food at these times, you did something right. Of course, it hasn't always been perfect, but I can overlook those things. Their non standard buffet items, like the salad bar, and desserts are stuff that I rarely touch, but are still pretty good. I miss their ice cream machine they had when I was still a kid, it was the best ice cream I ever had, even if it were just two flavors, vanilla/chocolate. I go to this Chinese restaurant for the buffet. It’s not a large one but the food is good. If I don’t want Chinese I’ll pick some shrimp or chicken and potatoes. I was disappointed however, last time I went. Buffet was only open from 11:00-3:30 and the salad and dessert bar nearly killed me. I picked what I thought was honey mustard for my salad and when I forked a portion of salad the dressing was hot, hot, hot!! Burned my lips and I had to spit it out. Who puts super hot salad dressing next to ranch at the salad bar?? Another thing: service was very informal. I guess they never recovered from COVID restrictions.
