The Brown Pelican — Restaurant in New Bern

I've seldom ever been mistreated at a bar, but this was one of the few places. Thanks to the bartender Bethany, she ruined our time. Story goes...we came in and found a table with open seating, yet there was a bag on one of the chairs at the table. We waited for several minutes for someone to claim it and asked one of the customers if it was anyone's table, yet no one claimed it and the customer said he hadn't see anyone sit there. So we moved the bag to the side on the ground and sat at the table. Mid way through us having drinks, one of the bartenders came over with attitude and stated "This bag in your way? Am I bothering you? Thoughts what I thought!" Gave us a dirty look then went back to the bar. This pissed me off, so i confronted her politely and asked what the problem was. She claimed we threw her bag to the ground and should have kept it there. I come from a restaurant background and your personal belongings as a bartender belong behind the bar and not to the open public. Love this locals place!

Monica and I stopped in yesterday after hearing from a friend that it is a great local pub and we are sure glad we did.

It is a private club and it costs one dollar to join. (what a deal!)

We were greeted by Asha - she was helpful and patient and friendly and it turns out not only does she serve drinks but she is a talented musician too.

I love the decor here! There are paintings by local artists (some you can purchase), there are antique outboard motors, nautical flags and lots of interesting things to check out.

There is a back deck that is decorated with fun things like herbs, a old motor, skis with plants in them and more. It is the smoking spot and fun to hang out there.

The beers are reasonably priced and cold.

We were informed about the great local live music that is here in the evening and trivia. Will try to make it one evening.

I love this place and look forward to return.

Visited the Til It's Gone food truck. I had the fish and fries, and my daughter had wings and fries. IT WAS AMAZING!! Everything was seasoned to perfection, right down to the fries. There was just one problem, after I finished my fish and fries, I DIDN'T HAVE ANY MORE!!
