Standing outside in 28 degree weather while one person with one scanner checks all of the tickets was not a good start. Waiting in the lobby with all of the patrons while they fixed a problem with the sound equipment was their next mistake. That should have been tested days prior to the event. We were crammed into the lobby area with who knows how many people that had covid or the flu, added to the lack of comfort. Keeping the theater door closed until well after the show was supposed to have started was the next problem. The heat had not been turned on in the theater so most of us continued to wear our winter coats. An open Mike while we waited for the show to start gave us far more insite into the goings on behind the scenes, particularly embarrassing to one of the performers when she shared with all of us that she needed to go to the restroom. Finally the show started 20 minutes late. The only thing that made it worthwhile was the professionalism of the performers. This was our second disappointment with this theater and there will never be a third disappointment. We will...
Read moreThe New Bern Civic Theatre is a amazing place to enjoy musicals and if you enjoy theatre you should definitely make time to see one of their shows. They always seem to have a great selection of shows each season. I have seen a number of shows over the past couple of years including Mary Poppins, Hello Dolly, Into the Woods, Rent, and more and the crew never fails to deliver outstanding performances. It is very easy to purchase tickets form the theatres website which allows you to pick the exact seat you want and with the convenience of printing the tickets form home. They have floor seating and a balcony. The theatre is older and the seats are a little uncomfortable but the quality of the performances more than makes up for these minor inconveniences. They also have meet and greets with the cast after each show and they are always a delight to talk to. It is very obvious how much they enjoy...
Read moreHow can you possibly enjoy the show with such poor seating conditions. This will be our last attempt to see one of your productions. My wife and I were up in the balcony for the Lewis & Clark production. The distance between the rows of seats was extremely narrow. When the woman sitting in front of me moved in her seat, I could feel the pressure on my knees. Even though I have undergone 2 knee replacements, I would never have expected such poor seating arrangement. My knees are still sore. When we were leaving the theater a maintenance man apologized for the lack of cooling in the balcony (just ceiling fans). Haven’t you folks heard of wall mounted air conditioners to be used in conjunction with the ceiling fans. The performance was great, but sitting through it lessened...
