Crema Brew is good as a small business coffee shop. They fit a coffee shop atmosphere. Although I can not be sure if they are trying to create an antique and old fashioned theme or found items they thought look like they belong in a coffee shop to place around the space. My experience so far has been that the first time I visited, they were doing a soft open and do not have the means to handle a crowd, they gave away my espresso to someone who did not even order my size or flavor. I had already waited for over 10 minutes after ordering, I went to the back to see how my wife and kids were doing for a minute, when I came back they were giving the person after me their espresso. They said they made the drink I ordered so I guess someone else was upset about the wait and grabbed the first large latte that came up. This problem could be easily fixed by writing the persons name on the order, announcing the order so everyone can hear including in back, or checking the receipt. On a more recent visit, I was eating their coffee cake and bit into a piece of nut shell which was unexpected and a bit painful. As far as the food, other then the issues experienced, the food is their most redeeming aspect. The food is fresh as well as delicious, every drink is well crafted. Crema Brew is a bold coffee shop for both the location not being closer to the other shops in Historic Downtown New Bern and for wanting to compete amongst other coffee chains in New Bern that have a mainstream setup and audience. I'm willing to see how they do as they settle in longer-term.
My recommendations on how to improve: setting a theme and sticking to your theme goes a long way; along with that, New Bern is the "Birth Place of Pepsi" so if you have any Coca-Cola exhibition floating around in your theme you may consider changing it for something Pepsi in the same style; getting customers the correct order is important and there are many techniques that could be implemented to ensure you always provide the right food and drink; if a crowd is to be expected, find ways to prepare for large groups when you can so you won't get blindsided during certain times of day or events downtown; maybe separate any anticipated lines with a barrier either literally or implied since the line can extend in front of the Exit, floor tape or signs can help create a social norm in...
Read moreWhat a cute little coffee shop! This place is so warm and inviting. I love all the trinkets and things you can buy! I was greeted warmly by the baristas as soon as I stepped in! When it comes to a cup of coffee, you can definitely have it how you like here! They have all the flavors! I stuck to my usual oat milk latter but I got the “Brown Bear”! Which is white chocolate and caramel. Now I will say- if you don’t like your cup too sweet just tell them half the pumps of syrup and it will be just right! My latte was delicious!
Now let’s get into these cookies- MY GOD TODAY!!!! They had sweet treat that looked devine. Cookies, pies, coffee cakes, and bars. I ended up getting the grandma cookie but I also tried the chocolate chip and the snickerdoodle. Now they all were really good but the Snickerdoodle will probably take my money everytime! So buttery and rich! They have sandwiches and soup as well! We got to try the chicken salad which hit the spot because we were starving. I would 100% recommend this place. Nieee the only thing I didn’t like was the $1.50 extra for oat milk but that’s coffee shop life and I’ll definitely be back to pay it again lol. Go enjoy yourself and try something sweet!...
Read moreI met an older woman here at the coffee shop. I ordered a raspberry bar, black berry muffin and chocolate chip cookie. Not all for myself 🤷🏻♀️
I didn’t order myself my fiancé did. I sat outside and talked the Oder women. We had to all sit at different tables because outside there’s 2 chairs to a table.
I needed change for a $20 before I left. I walk back inside and stand in line the lady ignored me standing in line. I noticed but gave her time and didn’t say anything. She finally comes to me and I politely ask if I can get chance. Because I was giving the older woman some money to be nice to grab herself a biscuit since they didn’t have donuts today. Not only did the lady tell me I had to be a customer. Scratching my head because I’m holding my raspberry bar in my hand and she sees it. But she gives me a snarky remark and reaction. I was treated like I just came in off the street begging than a paying customer. My experience being here today. Made me never want to come back. I’m not big on bad reviews. But hands down this place I’m assuming picks and chooses who they deal with and who they don’t. Hope someone else doesn’t get...
