New Bern Farmers Market — Local services in New Bern

My family & I have lived in the area for 3 or 4 years. We've been to the local farmer's market only a few times. Not to be comparing this market to others, which is exactly what I am going to do, I hope someone reads this and makes changes or implements something. Okay so a market where I am from is bustling with, bakers, butchers, baristas, florist, TONS OF PRODUCE, chocolate makers, horseradish grinders, fish mongers, tea mongers, candy makers & maybe one candlestick maker. New Bern's Farmers Market is full of knitters, writers, candlestick makers, crafts, crafts, crafts! The people who are selling local produce are outrageously overpriced, I saw a quart of strawberries for $11.00! Thank God we have our own garden that produce strawberries. Don't get me wrong I am very thankful that New Bern's has a market it's more like a nice flea market. Anyway, you can see some chickens, adopt a cat for a lot of money or check out an alpaca (which is frankly the coolest...

Lettuce bowls, local produce, fresh sausage, local honey, local dairy, local eggs(chicken, duck and quail), and artisal products from local farm commodities(wool, reclaimed lumber, goats milk, bakery items)...all good stuff and a great place for community spirit. Open every saturday year round and also tuesdays spring-fall. Wonderful draw to downtown and much more convenient and environmentally friendly to walk around downtown to do all the errands rather than having to drive...

Absolutely love New Bern's Farmers' Market! Amazing local produce, baked goods, arts and crafts. I am addicted to the booths such as "The Farm at Beaman's Fork" who sell amazing homemade soaps, "Recycling is for the Birds" who build bird, butterfly and other outdoor habitats made from recycled wood (mine was made from a old 1920s farm house), I've bought an awesome cutting board, honey, jewelry and so much more, all made by people right here.
