Unsure how to rank this restaurant. We just ate brunch here this morning, we had one guest of our party running late so we decided to sit inside & out of the heat, we let the host know that we were waiting on someone (as they don't seat incomplete parties) he asked how long, we said maybe about 20 minutes or so. (I didn’t think it would be a problem waiting inside because they were not busy at all) I clocked a little bit of an attitude and annoyance from the host but we still waited. I'm unsure if the attitude was directed towards us because it seemed like he was just kind of .. in a mood in general. Honestly it was both people up front.. either an owner/manager; an older gentleman, & the host. Neither smiled or really even greeted us when we walked in or the entire time we sat there waiting. They treated everyone who came in after us the same way, no smile or a hello just a “how many in your party?” With a blank stare lol. When the last person of our party arrived we let the host know. Another woman was waiting next to us to be sat as well, the host grabbed some utensils & menus and just started walking away to a table, the woman and I looked at each other and "is he seating us or you?" So no one follows because we are confused. He finally turns around and points to the other woman & says "you." She goes and sits, he comes back to seat us, everything is fine. Our server was wonderful, service was fast, food was delicious, no complaints there. I guess the only thing I’ll mention is the chicken tenders in the chicken and waffles are about the size of my pinky finger.. but they were good nonetheless!
When we get the bill & pay with card we notice a 3% fee for using a card to pay.... I've never seen that at a restaurant. I've seen added gratuity for parties of 10 or more.. sure that makes sense. Maybe at a gas station when you're paying for something less than $5 they charge you a fee for using a card.. sure. But I have never eaten at a restaurant.. spent $60+ and still get charged a 3% for using a card? Sorry, but that's just the price of running a business.. you pay the card fees as a business owner, not put it on every single customer paying with a card (majority of customers). That really rubbed me the wrong way, along with the miserable attitudes of the 2 men up front, and honestly because of that I probably won't eat here again. It seems ridiculous to charge a fee just to use a card when the customer is already spending $15+ per meal and tipping the server 20%... just my opinion. Delicious food though, so at least they...
Read moreToday we came in for the first time. My fiance quickly had to run an errand at a store next door. Even though there wasn't a wait, I was not permitted to be allowed to go to my table until he came in. We were seated but I was disappointed to hear the bagels they serve are not made in house. I ended up ordering French toast with no sides. My partner ordered one bagel and no sides. It took an unreasonable amount of time to come out. The French toast had a nice presentation but even with syrup is was just so dry. There was no moisture or fluffiness and very minimal flavor. You could also tell the syrup was that artificial syrup which usually isn't a deal breaker but it was a disappointment that it wasn't real maple syrup. Then the strawberries also were a bit dry. I don't know if they left my food under a lamp but whatever they did made the French Toast so unenjoyable that I will most likely never eat here again. I will say however that our server was beyond lovely. He is a phenomenal worker and was very upbeat and friendly. To not waste money I ate all my food but I was extremely disappointed. This place has such high reviews and yet they botched the French Toast. I'm hoping this was some fluke for the restaurant being busy but it makes me really hesitant to try anything else in the future. What really put me off more than the food is that they charge you more money if you pay with a card than if you pay with cash. That is just villainous. I understand a card minimum but charging someone an entire extra dollar on top of their meal just for using one is...
Read moreToday was the first and last time we will be going here. We heard a lot of great things about this place and we're looking forward to trying it out. Our waitress was quite rude, she was annoyed when I asked to substitute the bacon for fruit and said they don't allow substitutions (didn't see that on the menus anywhere, but that's okay) and I had to order my breakfast as individual items. I got a single pancake, diced red potatoes, two over medium eggs and a small bowl of fruit. My husband got the chicken fried steak breakfast. The steak and our potatoes tasted like they had been fried in fish oil, my eggs were over easy and very runny and there was mold in my berries. My pancake was good, the slices of bananas were pretty alright and my tea was okay also. The strawberries were not ripe and were bitter, I didn't eat any eggs and only part of my potatoes before pushing them away. Our waitress took my plate, didn't ask if anything was wrong though clearly you could see I hadn't hardly touched it. When she brought a refill of my husbands drink she plopped it down on the table and actually spilled some on the table, didn't say anything or attempt to clean it up and left to get our check. She sat the check down on the table and said she would pick it up when we were ready. Never once asked us how our meal was, even though, again, you could see neither of us actually ate much of our food. She saw me taking these pictures of the bad fruit and never once asked us if we had any problems. We won't be returning, would rather eat at...
