I went to Inferno's Pizza in Gruene tonight 12/29/2024 between 4 and 5pm. My wife have been regulars ever since after covid, we have been there 30- 40 or so times, always enjoyed it. Tonight we ordered a Medium Pepperoni and mushroom pizza. It had no pizza sauce on it that either one of us could find. I had a hard time lifting up the cheese because it was stuck to the crust- no sauce. Many, many times have I pulled off all the cheese on a slice of pizza because- overbite + sauce. I told the waitress and she said she was going to go ask the cook about it to which I said "Why are you going to ask the cook about it when the pizza is sitting right here- look at it." She then grabbed the pizza and ran off with it, she did not look at it.
At that point I went to the bathroom, when I came out my waitress was right there at the bathroom door and told me "The cook said he put sauce on the pizza." To this I responded "I'm sure he did say that but, the pizza had no sauce. You have the pizza, look at it. I don't care about a bunch of talk, look at the pizza. This is ridiculous, this is irritating" and left.
Like I say, I have been to Inferno's many many times. I understand everyone has bad days, I am having a bad day after this visit to infernos. But I told the waitress what to do- look at the pizza. If she had done that maybe she would have found a drivel of sauce somewhere on the pizza and "proved me wrong" (I doubt it). I didn't argue, the girl was not willing to even look at the pizza with me, there was no reason to hang around. I went to get the truck so we could leave. My wife told me the manager came out and picked a fight with her claiming there was sauce on the pizza and verbally beat her up. Pathetic.
No one there was willing to do what I asked and "look at the pizza" I called their hand and they hid their cards because they had nothing. Talk is cheap, They should have looked at the pizza and if they found sauce they could have shown it to me but no, they are telling me what the cook said. I don't give a flip what the cook says- get the pizza, we will look at it together, not rocket science. DUH
This is pathetic. We paid our bill and left. I doubt if I will ever go back after this. There is having a bad day but this is worse than that.
They gave us a replacement pizza, I actually took pictures of it. Half of it had little or no sauce and half was swimming in sauce- I took a bite of the one with a lot of sauce and all I can honestly say is it was nasty and my wife agrees- nasty. I hope we...
Read moreI tend to go to places based on the reviews on Google and Yelp. We came upon this place after returning from San Marcos and heading back to SA. The surrounding area of Gruene is a small town with adorable rows of neat homes. The restaurant fits right in with the town. It’s important to mention that while we were there we noticed there wasn’t a very diverse customer base. I don’t know if this is the norm but for us this was very evident. Here’s the deal...this is NOT a bad thing. But as a Hispanic woman this is something I instinctively notice anywhere I go. Now before some of you start rolling your eyes and wondering why this has to be mentioned I’ll tell you why. Brown and black people alike notice this at every point of their lives. We want to be comfortable anywhere we eat or shop and don’t always want to wonder if other people are judging our presence. So this isn’t for you. This is for those like me that would like to go to nice places like this but want to make sure they are welcome. THAT BEING SAID I felt very comfortable and the waitstaff was engaging and on top of their customer service. Never left us waiting and generally enjoy their job. We started our meal with the Chorizo Stuffed Jalapeños. Very good and not heavy at all like you would expect from the cream cheese stuffed versions. We then proceeded with the Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza and the Boss Hog Pizza. Both fantastic. The crust on the pies are crispy and not thick. The Chicken Bacon Ranch was delicious although I chose to add the Scorpion Infusion drizzle in order to add just a little kick. This pizza needed just a little something else but overall was good. I expected the infusion sauce to be a little spicier than it was because of its name “Scorpion” but it was decent. The Boss Hog was great. The meats included bacon, Italian sausage, ham, and bits of pulled pork. The bacon was perfectly crispy and the sausage was nicely seasoned. Could’ve used just a tad bit more pulled pork because several of my slices didn’t have any. But the ones that did were awesome. Definitely recommend this place. Nice ambiance...
Read moreCame out on a nice weekend, was immediately greeted and told about a 25 minute wait, but was luckily seated outside within 10 minutes.
Nice mix of about 20 tables outside from low tables, high tops, and picnic bench tables that were safely spread out. There was a small stage for music, but there wasn't any music on my visit. Seating outside has nice grass area for kids to play safely from the street but far enough away to not disturb other diners.
Our waitress, Katie, immediately greeted us and was very helpful in making food and drink recommendations. Ordered the Chorizo Stuffed Jalapenos, Wedge Salad, The Big One Pizza, Peach Margarita, Strawberry Habanero Margarita, and Peanut Butter Explosion for dessert. Katie did a great job of always checking on us without being overwhelming and had a great attitude.
Drinks and appetizers came out pretty quickly and had plenty of time to eat before the pizza and salad came out together. Drinks were very good and mixed just right. All the food was fresh, hot, and very flavorful. I can't say which was my favorite. Wedge Salad had plenty of toppings and right amount of dressing. Pizza was nice, thin, and generous with the toppings too. There's only 1 size for the pizza, 14 inches. The Peanut Butter Explosion dessert was amazing if you love peanut butter.
Unrelated to food, I was very impressed with Don, who I believe was the Manager, but was bussing tables. While bussing tables, he immediately greeted every table to make sure they have been helped and if needed anything. I also watched him help a new hire, assisted every waiter and waitress both with service, but also in the form of advice and mentorship. From a business and management perspective, that attitude builds a culture of great customer service and camaraderie between the staff.
I will definitely be back to try the Scorpion Pepper Pizza, Reuben Sandwich, other appetizers, and drinks. Food was top notch and the service was amazing. One of my new...
