Mighty Oak BBQ (food truck on the patio) — Restaurant in New Braunfels

Mighty oaks BBQ is a hidden gem! I was having a bad day, and their food and service flipped that around for me. I think that speaks volumes. And while you wait, you can enjoy a free soft serve chocolate ice cream. That sure brings out your inner child. They also have an amazing select of delicious ice teas. I purchased the smoked meatloaf plate, yum! Knocks your socks off! A loaded chopped beef potato! Holly moly. The potato itself was smoked, and moist. It was not over cooked in the slightest. Plate came with two sides. I chose bbq baked beans and potato salad. I added coleslaw and he gave me a free personal Mac n cheese to try! Oh also purchased a chopped beef sandwich and a sausage link. Wow! Not a single bite went to waste. Great work y’all! Thank you for feeding my soul! It’s always refreshing to go somewhere and enjoy conversation with the people that work at any given place. Wife & I were wondering what to eat today. We thought of BBQ but we also remembered how expensive it can be! She told me of a BBQ place that we haven't heard of but driven by many times. So okay, let's go.

Mighty Oak is small so you may pass it once, but quickly turn around and pull up to the place for some good food. The staff, including Crystal and Thumper (owner), are great. They took care of us like family.

We first tried their Friday Special of pork belly with two sides and a drink. Both of us got the garlic mashed potatoes for a side, I got the coleslaw, she got the Mac n Cheese for our second side.

Usually one of us would get jealous because they got the better side, but not this time.... ALL 3 SIDES WERE YUM! 🤤

I couldn't help but get a second order.... Round 2! I got the pork belly again but with mashed potatoes and BBQ baked beans. I started getting tears in my eyes.

She got the Brown Bag Special, it was the pulled pork sandwich (with enough meat for two sandwiches!), BBQ baked beans, drink and a banana pudding.

The banana pudding finishes fast, EVERYTHING IS HOMEMADE!

The food is is great for the price. 10/10 definitely...

Ordered 1/2 lb each of lean end brisket, turkey breast and jalapeno cheddar smoked sausage.

The brisket had a great smoke ring, was very flavorful without bbq sauce, and had a nice crust that was far less salty that you usually find ... but without losing the lusciousness of the bark. They must have a special dry rub. The brisket was moist, even though it was from the lean end. 9/10.

The turkey breast was amazingly moist given that it was, well, turkey. My wife liked it a lot. I had a bite and, for turkey, it was flavorful. 7/10.

The jalapeño cheddar sausage had the "snap" you look for, had a smoky flavor and a little zing from the jalapeño. 8/10.

All in all, a very good alternative and you are probably buying it at the counter from the guy who stayed up last night smoking it. The brisket (which is what you go for, let's not kid each other) is as good as Black's or Cooper's without the oversaltiness. Give them a try, I predict you will like this little divey place.
