Sad to say that I’ve been coming to great taste for the past 10-12years and this is what it’s come down to. First of all let me start by saying for whatever reason when you go to pick up your food and don’t leave a tip, if there is a lady working she gives you the dirtiest look and will go into the kitchen momentarily and start speaking in their native language… not sure if they understand the fact that you are picking up your own food that doesn’t require a tip, maybe would be different if it was curbside pick up but seems like all the workers there are just looking for that tip which wasn’t like that before, especially when the older gentlemen would great you by the door he was the best! Always a smile and wished you a great day. Secondly I always order the same boneless spare rib with rice and for my wife general tso chicken with the lo mein combo, the noodles were the consistency of a rubber band, and much darker in color than normal which indicates they are using the same oil over and over to cook, the ribs were OK, the general chicken was very chewy… more chewy than normal. Only real good thing about the meal was the rice. We also ordered crab Rangoon, now before I even get into it let me start off by saying everyone understand this days economy and everything has gone up, but the amount they charge for 6 crab Rangoon you would think they come DECENTLY stuffed!? Well you’re wrong! Idk if it was a bad batch but there was literally BARLEY ANY stuffing in there it felt more like I was eating a friend dough than crab Rangoon. I hate to say but this is not the same great taste it was 10years ago. Maybe eating in they give you better, fresher food but for take out I don’t recommend for the simple fact that the past 10times we’ve gotten take out each time disappointed between the staff looking at you funny because you don’t tip on a pickup order to the food being...
Read moreThis is my favorite Chinese restaurant I've been eating here for quite some time. I've had at least over 50 plates at this location already very delicious one of my favorite spots. However I ordered a combination before closing time and I don't know if they didn't want to cook a fresh batch or just didn't want to waste food and gave me some that were sitting around. But that one plate did not taste like my other 50 previous plates. The chicken was very stale and had weird texture. The rice was okay but the pork was kind of funny. I didn't finish the food and threw it away. Coincidentally, the very next day (Monday) I went downhill and was in bad condition. It took me 5 days to feel better and write this review (Friday). It's been 5 days now and I've had the worst stomach pain, fever, throwing up, and bad bowel movement.. I've been prescribed medication to assist me. Again one of the best Chinese spots I've eaten but never in any circumstances give food that's been sitting around whether it's near closing time or not I paid for fresh food. This never happened to me because I always ordered during lunch time or maybe dinner but I assume since I ordered rite before closing time they didn't want to make me a fresh batch so they gave me left over instead of throwing it out. I got very sick and I don't wish this upon no one else so please for every order it should hit the pan as soon as the call is made. Now I'm too afraid to ever order again despite how many times I've ate there and how good it is because this sickness is no joke tons of suffering do not wanna go through...
Read moreI really hope the owner reads these. Great Taste used to be great quality and service for as long as I can remember. The last few visits the service was nothing like it used to be, the quality has gone down, smaller portions, and prices up. I hate to say it, but $100 for 2 adults (no alcohol) and 2 young kids who didn't get their own meals for "just ok" Chinese food, we won't be back after 20 years of being a customer.
General tso's was primarily filler with some chicken, boneless spare ribs were no longer the big meaty pieces, and was thin cuts, fatty, and half the portion. Even the wanton soup lacked the flavor I'd appreciated in the past..
It wasn't that busy and staffing seemed more than adequate, but they don't offer the initial dried noodles anymore. For tea, 1 cup and didn't ask or offer more, other drink refills slow, they used to package left-overs for you but don't any longer, they seemed to forget our meals came with ice cream and I had to remind them as I felt pushed out the door, and they used to often do some memorable small fruit design at the end, which they don't. The staff didn't feel hospitable, more cold and almost avoiding; didn't ask questions, offer suggestions, or really even be friendly. They weren't short on tables or staff and I just don't get it.
For Chinese cuisine, this is a premium price, but most the reasons for going here and having a great experience worth the extra $ just aren't there anymore, and...
