The WORST customer service experience ever. I have shopped at this store for 10+ years at this location. In the last two years I have always used the mobile scan it app. when I do my shopping. I actually used this app. at this location within the last two weeks. Last night I attempted to check out while having used the app. and received an error; the young lady at the self checkout came over and said "We dont use that here" I explained to her that I've always used it & even used it 2 weeks ago. She told me to go wait in line for a cashier to assist me. I stood in line for 10 minutes; this time the cashier along with her "supervisor/manager" (not sure who she is because she never introduced herself) told me "No, we don't use it here. NEVER have. We dont have scan it machines" I again explained that this is how I have done my shopping at THIS location for the last two years. The cashier's friend was waiting behind me & had already loaded up her cart full of groceries (although I was in the express checkout lane) and was waiting for me to move. The "supervisor/manager" told me to go wait in yet another aisle to load my groceries and cash out. This time I waited for 20 minutes (busy night at the store OR the fact that only 2 registers were open (1 being express) could have caused the delays)) While I was waiting- the "supervisor/manager" opened a lane and took everyone around me (who was waiting AFTER me) to check out. First of all, per stop & shop (website & app) all of their locations within 20 miles of New Britain INCLUDING New Britain are mobile scan it stores. This is the worst service ever; the person "in charge" did NOTHING to rectify the situation or to make my shopping experience any better- in fact all 3 people i dealt with made it worse. What should have been a 20 minute grocery trip turned into 1.5 hours of frustration. If I wanted to wait in line during a pandemic to buy groceries and unload & load up my cart I would shop elsewhere. Which seems to be the best option here- I'll be shopping locally at...
Read moreWent in to return bottles and cans. I went to customer service to redeem my tickets. I know customer service can take a little, and that I can redeem in the checkout lane. The checkout lanes were extremely long, so that was not an option. 3 employees were looking in the baby formula cage right where they could see a line of 10+ people at customer service. Not one of them came up to help. When two walked by me slow, like they were not busy, I asked if anyone could help. They said no and that they were short handed. I guess they couldn't help, even though they looked like they had nothing to do. I was in line for 15 minutes with no movement. There were 3 people in front of me and at least 7+ behind me. I have worked retail almost my whole life. Each place I worked had multiple people that could help. If the person at customer service had too many customers waiting, they would call and get help. Whether a manager, or other employees. And when your store is busy, tasks become secondary to making sure your customers are taken care of. This showed a real lack of caring for their customers. Very poor service.

Read moreThis is the only Stop and shop close to me so I have to use it otherwise I wouldn't. I am seriously considering going to the big y near me which is more expensive simply because I hate this step and shop so much. They never have anything that you need the shelves are always empty. The deli is always closing an hour and a half early and they blame it on no help, but the manager is too busy helping close the deli early instead of maybe, I don't know, Being a manager and Stepping in for the help that you don't have and start cutting up some deli meat. Anytime you ask the butcher in the meat department to put anything out he gives you an attitude and it takes him 45 minutes. They only always have one register opened, While half the store employees are just sitting around talking on their phones doing absolutely nothing instead of opening a damn register. I'm not using the self checkout for a cart full of groceries. This store needs to get it together. Maybe if you would stop being so concerned on raising your prices and making sure that customers can actually buy the things that they need this store wouldn't suck so much.
