Absolutely love this place. Breakfasts are so good, great portions and excellent home fries (the mark of a good diner). The "Saute" dinners are very tasty, like Chicken Francais or Shrimp Scampi. There are Marsala and Piccatta options in that category too and they're all delicious. However, I have one complaint - the HOURS! Open only until 3:00 pm on weekdays and 4:00 on weekends? They used to be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Like, they never actually locked their doors, open on Christmas and everything. Now because young people don't want to have to actually do work for the money they receive these days - this diner's hours are suffering for it. Used to be able to stroll in at 2:00 am and order whatever was on the menu, which was nice after a night out and you didn't want to cook when you got home. But now, their not even open for dinner! How are they making any money?? I can never go there for food during the week now because I actually go to work every day and don't get out until 5:00. I say forget these kids who don't want to work and don't have to pay their college debts any more - and hire older people who actually have a good work ethic. But pay them more, so we all can go get a nice dinner after work or later in the evening. So New Britian Diner - we love your food but PLEASE change your hours back soon, I promise you will get...
Read moreWorst place!!!!! Here is my experience. Ordered shrimp pasta with soup.
The soup starter tasted weird so I asked for a salad. The salad had old and brown lettuce in it. The bread was half hot and half cool. So we asked for a new basket and it contained a HARD hockey puck piece of bread. Finally received my pasta 2/5 were burned of the shrimp were burned and black at the top . So I ate the other 3 and when I went to eat the pasta there was a lot of water at the bottom of the dishes so I complained and at this point just wanted to go to the McDonald’s across the street.
The server told the manager and they discounted 50% of the pasta dish. I didn’t even touch the pasta but it was explained that most of the price came from the shrimp.
I completely understand getting the money back with the shrimp but when a customer complains and doesn’t even touch their main dish because of how awful it is and has to return the other portions of the meal (soup for salad) They should cover the bill of the pasta. Period. Obviously all they care about is money.
And The manager would not come to our table which was the worst part!!!!!!!! We had to go to her to complain...... from the reviews I can tell it isn’t...
Read moreI only really leave reviews when our experience is exceptionally good, or exceptionally bad. There's enough of the noise in between.
This was our third time coming here. We're always looking for a good, relatively cheap, spot to eat before or after a movie in Plainville.
Our first time last year was a good experience. Our second time wasn't very good, but it was an odd time and we figured that it was possibly just bad timing. We decided to give it another try to be fair; there aren't many options in the area and we'd rather give our business to small businesses.
This time last night though was awful. Two of our chicken dinners were almost inedible. The spaghetti was mushy like it had been sitting in water all day or longer. The chicken basically felt apart at the touch of your fork (not in a good way). We both brought our meals home for our dogs to finish.
The salads that came with our meals were the bagged salads, and they seemed old. When it gets slightly wet and soggy. It wasn't good at all. We won't...
