Mr. Tacos - Taqueria Mexicana — Restaurant in New Brunswick

I know this place is capable of serving good food because I ordered from them through Uber Eats and it was delicious. This led me to stop by in person to enjoy more. However, the service was so poor and the food they served me was so much less appealing than what I ordered anonymously that I will not be patronizing this restaurant ever again and will discourage my friends and family from doing so. Today I came in and ordered 3 mushroom tacos with everything on them except sour cream and cheese. I requested and was charged for guacamole as a substitute garnish. When I received my food none of the mushroom tacos had guacamole. I used some of the free sauces they have as garnish instead and they were still pretty tasty. I also ordered 2 carnitas tacos with cilantro, onions and guacamole. This time the toppings were right but the protein was wrong. They gave me 2 shrimp tacos. I showed them that they'd given me the wrong thing and they did not offer a replacement. When I requested a free replacement, they only gave me one carnitas taco instead of two and it was disgusting. Instead of giving me the actual meaty portion of the pork, they gave me a taco filled with fatty pieces of pork. It was disgusting. I could not stomach it and threw it away. Disappointed to say my order was messed up and the service did not suffice.

Went here with one other person and we were the only patrons in the restaurant at the time. Ordered a burrito bowl with Carne Asada and it was a quick service. Eager to eat after driving all the way back home and ready to dig in the meal, I was disappointed to see no meat within the bowl and it was just rice with lettuce on top of the chip bowl. I contacted the restaurant to inform them of the mistake, but the response I received was far from satisfactory. There was no accommodation for this order and given we were the only patrons there should not be a mistake. There was no offer of an alternate resolution, and the issue was treated a minor inconvenience, even though it disrupted my day and routine significantly. They mentioned to arrive back to the establishment so they can add the meat on top. Declined as it was an inconvenience to my routine, I was left in dismay. To add to my disappointment, I was merely told to mention this error on my next visit.

Unfortunately I am hesitant to return as this experience has left me felt undervalued as a customer. The expectations for service and quality...

I want to apologize for what I said in my earlier review and I will keep it below this. I went back here recently during the day time and the food was a lot better than what I had the first time! While consistency is nice I guess you can’t necessarily judge a place off of their graveyard shift.

First Review: So the first time I had this I was drunk and the second time I had it completely sober and that is why I’m rating it this way. At first glance it seems authentic but it is actually just made to seem authentic for college students in the area. Both times I’ve ordered from here I got Al pastor tacos and it took almost 20 mins for them to make. Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought tacos were supposed to be quick . They weren’t visibly busy either the second time I went (workers sitting down taking breaks). For about 4 dollars a taco they need to do better . I will most likely not be eating here again due to inconsistent quality and service. Nor will I recommend this place to others. Until I hear or see some changes , which I doubt...
